valid actual constructive criticism, for sure.
useless "this is shit! kill yourself!" doesn't help anybody

this really describes myself as well but I'll add that I make music so I can have an outlet for my passion of playing guitar which is essential for my well being. Like is one thing, relatively speaking most of us as people are not liked by very many people so when it comes to my music it would be a waste of time to concentrate on getting someone else to like my music as I see it. I do however listen to critiques and appreciate them. I often have a few things in mind I'm iffy on and see if other criticism lines up or brings up something new I need to think about. I'm always wanting to grow to enhance my experience and listening to criticism is one way to help growth. On the other hand I dont always agree with the criticism and let it go at that, perhaps one day I will (which has been the case in the past). The one thing I ignore is anyone resorting to names or attacks, they cannot diminish my experience and I refuse to handle it because it's probably not my problem.aMUSEd wrote:It's not a case of being able to 'handle it' or not - I make music because I need to for my own wellbeing, whether people like it or not is not really a major drive, if they can relate to it that's pleasing and I like to hear that but feedback of any sort is not going to have any effect on the music I create except basic listenability things like if it sounds too loud or distorted but nothing in terms of the music itself. Also my stuff is so personal I don't really expect many people to 'like it'.
Honest critique of your work, without sugar coding or hating, just the ugly truth.cryophonik wrote:I fail to see a relationship between "the truth" and "critiques"
Yeah, obliviously.Hink wrote:you know that's just gonna lead to l: define truth>whose truth>who decides the truth :l right?

You're right, it's not shit because your gran said so, it's shit because that's gabba speedcore techno for you!donkey tugger wrote:Your gran probably will despise your gabba speedcore techno - doesn't mean it's shit.
