Awful news. To be honest, I was rather vocally anti-Johannsson to anyone who would listen to my worthless opinions about his music, but this is beyond sad. His life ended just as his work was breaking out and gaining wider recognition. What a crying shame. Sending my love to his family, friends, and fans.

That is sad, he did the Arrival score which is one of my favourite movie scores in recent years

This is so sad. I haven’t seen Arrival, but became aware of his work when that theme was featured on an episode of Song Exploder. He seemed very talented, and I was disappointed when he was pulled from the Blade Runner project. Gone too soon.

This is a major loss to the film soundtrack community. He was an excellent composer..

Johann Johannsson has died
