Kruger, J., & Dunning, D. (1999). Unskilled and unaware of it: How difficulties in recognizing one's own incompetence lead to inflated self-assessments. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 77(6), 1121-1134.
http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/0022-3514.77.6.1121
Abstract
People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it.
Across 4 studies, the authors found that participants scoring in the bottom quartile on tests of humor, grammar, and logic grossly overestimated their test performance and ability.

There's a VSTi that since 2013 has literally had my name on it- and yet, somehow, I've never felt compelled to start a thread exclaiming its wonders to the uninitiated. Bizarre, I know...

It's been really interesting to see how forum members here have reacted to this thread and what I've posted when it's come to see what they have seen art wise...and how they come to their conclusions and views on what I'm doing. Before even posting this thread, I had some aims and objectives, but not the aims you might think I have... it is however related to what I post project wise in the future here so I'm not going to divulge more than this in what these things are.
Three years ago..I posted pretty much the same thread...within a couple of days on a forum with a few hundred members, the topic view count was over 8000 in a couple of days... and in a similar amount of time, we are over 4000 here. These are statistical, aspects... but still interesting... given that interest in the design of a daw still holds weight with one that actually exists..given a few key choice of words within a topic title...
In case you've not already figured, I have been using some reverse psychology with you guys here, and whilst a few of you might throw your hands up in disbelief and get on your high horse and scrutinize that as you've done thus far..as I expect you will...I'll just, leave you this...and to say thanks for participating...
Reverse psychology
Reverse psychology is a technique involving the advocacy of a belief or behavior that is opposite to the one desired, with the expectation that this approach will encourage the subject of the persuasion to do what actually is desired: the opposite of what is suggested. This technique relies on the psychological phenomenon of reactance, in which a person has a negative emotional reaction to being persuaded, and thus chooses the option which is being advocated against. The one being manipulated is usually unaware of what is really going on
Believe it or not, I'm actually more critical of my own work than any of you here and in what I can improve...and thus really don't have such an inflated ego as much as many think I do in reality...
...I use forums to better what do and to filter out what I need and don't need to know at the end of the day, whilst also helping others....

Sorry, but I have to call "cow patties" on that as you do the same thing everywhere you go, post things to brag about yourself or some great thing you think you've done, and when some naturally openly wonder why you keep doing that, why you seem to have an inherent "deep seeded need" to be admired by strangers, you try to turn it around.THE INTRANCER wrote:In case you've not already figured, I have been using some reverse psychology with you guys here,
It's not them, it's you. I say that with no personal malice at all. You have megalomania tendencies. Even your sub comments are bragging about how your thread get so many views. It never occurs to you that many people view them out of entertainment value, wondering why you do that, and chucking at some of the subsequent comments. To you the "views" are all "see, they think I'm great".

The irony is, believe it or not, Scott actually is a pretty smart guy and has some talent.
The problem is that just can't stop talking / bragging about himself.
Must be fun at parties.
