Steinberg License Transfers

Does anyone have any experience in transferring Steinberg licenses ? I'd like to sell my Retrologue since I don't use it anymore but I found this:

Required steps before selling

In order to be able to pass on or sell your license, you need to transfer it onto an USB-eLicenser.

You can get empty USB-eLicensers from any Steinberg dealer. Within most European countries, USB-eLicensers are also available in our online shop. If you are not resident in the scope of the online shop please contact your local distributor

WTF ???? In order to transfer my license that is in on their Soft E-Licenser I have to buy a USB Dongle that would then be useless since I don't have any other Steinberg products ? That's madness.

Someone please tell me this is not correct......

It’s not correct. You put the license on the dongle and give it to the buyer. You don't get left with the dongle.

Yeah for e-Licenser the only way to transfer/sell the licence is via a USB dongle. Even if your licence is on a soft e-Licenser. There's no digital transfer as with iLok.

Yes. Also note that once you put the license on the dongle, it can't be transferred to a soft eLicenser anymore either.

So, Retrologue, Padshop or other products which cost 50 € are virtually unsellable, at least when you calculate the cost of a eLicenser dongle into it. That's why i never sold it.

That's f'ed up. Oh well I'd be lucky to get a few bucks for Retrolgue anyway so no great loss. However Steinberg has lost me as a customer. They would be better off just not allowing transfers at all.

You could sell the whole account, they buyer then only need to reactivate from mySteinberg.
