I'm reposting my question to this forum (because I didn't notice it before):
I have a sampler question for the collective KVR brain:
I was hoping to find an instrument that can do the
following with a single preset:
1. play backing tracks for a song (basically long wav files) with both a mono out to an amp and a mono out to headphones for the drummer, triggered with a midi note on the keyboard
2. have two different instrument sample sets mapped to a midi keyboard with individual outs
3. an array of one-shot samples assigned to individual midi keys, all grouped to a single out
Basically, I want to dial up the preset for a song,
start the backing tracks and play along with them on
the keyboard using several different sounds. The
drummer would have a mix to keep in time. Having the option for multiple outs from the soundcard would allow for using a bass amp for bass sounds, the PA for the backing tracks, etc. And, the smaller and less complicated the set up, the better.
I was thinking Kontakt would be the best one-stop solution, but I'm not sure.
Any input?
live performance sampler?

kontakt works great and looks the closest to you needs but if you don’t what multi sampled sounds maybe Native Instruments Intakt is a good one for this just drag the wave files to the key range or key, multiple waves per key ok each wave can have an output on sound card

Thanks for the tip. I have heard Live is pretty cool and it offers multiple outs, as well as loads of other features. I'll have to take a closer look.
