Pruning the tree..

I am seriously considering cutting right back on the Krakli portfolio.. I notice that when (any) new free plugs are released there is a ripple of interest at first but very little evidence of interest after a short while.. (with the exception of some stayers like UGO's or ODO's stuff, M42 etc. etc.) I just have a feeling that I would be better concentrating on 4 or 5 synths than the eleventy seven that I have at the moment..
I would value your opinions as to the ones that should escape the pruning shears and which ones should have their heads lopped off..

Hiya
Of your older stuff, my favourites are V-Box2 (though I note that it's already in the 'obsolete' pile) Etiquet, Ring and Morphiza.
The latest standouts for me are EZ-Poly and Etequet (though I haven't yet delved much into Rticul8, SuperRing, Effem or <shudder> the VurtBoxes!
I haven't been inspired to play much with the stuff lower on your page except for those previously mentioned.
My betting is you'll get every possible combination of likes/dislikes
Cheers!

Ian,
I have not really used your synths, so i can't comment on which ones to cut. However, i think its a good idea to put more focus onto fewer synths.
That way, you can have a smaller number of more powerful synths, and spend more time supporting and improving those rather than releasing loads of stuff that might not get much use.
Keep up the good work though mate

But don't remove the old ones, I think... at least have them on an "old stuff I no longer support" page.

indeed.. I was just intending to put more on there and prune down the current free synths page, so what to 'lose'?foosnark wrote:But don't remove the old ones, I think... at least have them on an "old stuff I no longer support" page.

You as well know I'm one of your biggest fans Ian, but I must agree your output is very overwhelming.
I love your more experimental synths like EffEm and all all, and for the features you have on them - you do a great job on CPU comsumption.... However, being the nature of SE - they still do take up quite a bit.
As for your 'organic' synths like Morphiza and all, I love 'em! But again, you're up against MDA and Ik and all who are constantly refining, or just sit back on their merits that their great plugs already. Yours offer great and unique emulations as well, so I think you can sit back on those as well.
I feel bad in that I've been using so many of your 'free' synths, I never even bought VAYA yet.
So my advice my friend - roll back a bit. If you can refine some synths CPU drain and/or GUI's, fine. I think we all think you've done as best you could on them. If you come up with a most awesome and unique idea, work on it till it's as sweet as can be - and sell it beside VAYA then - I might buy both at that point?
I'm the same with my music now. With sites like SOundClick and all, I just get caught up in throwing in weird little song ideas to see what people think.
And it's great to see them on the charts and a small percentage giving kudos and all... But I am supposed to be thinking about my next CD, and honestly nothing of what I've been putting up has motivated me to really concentrate. So it looks to me like you must be in the same boat? I say 'Let it sink in for everyone' - if we're good, we'll float still. If the hits stop coming, we better change course a degree or two.
And I'm sure you can see the hits for all your free synths and all as administrator? It's tough when you want to do something new, and everyone wants the old stuff. Give them something 'old', then they want NEW stuff. Welcome to Rock And Roll!
