Notebook question

Im thinking to buy a notebook for audio applications(Windows).
Im mainly interested in recording audio (guitar) into Cubase SX, and also using some VSTis (Trilogy).
What type of notebook and audi interface would be the best for this?
I read a topic about Dell notebooks here some months ago, and they seem to be good for audio applications.
Has anyone some experience with them?
I only have a rough conception about notebooks so any advice would be very appreciated.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a notebook as well. And went to Intel's website to see the different processors listed.

Here's a question, should I wait until they release their "dual core" techonology first or are current "P4s" and "Centrinos" enough to power today's most demanding applications? What other "hardware" should I buy in order to enjoy these techonology. (ok, more than one questions here...)

I run Cubase SX2 (until they upgrade it to SX3), Reason 2.5, Live 3, and a lot of VST plug-ins (Spectronics, BFD, the Grand, etc,.)

any dell 8600 with a pentium-m is a top, quiet choice for audio work. you have a ton of interfaces to choose from, ranging from a variey of usb, firewire, and pcmcia cards (preferred, echo's indigo). I'd configure the machine with 2x512 sticks of ram, and choose the much cheaper 64mb geforce 5200 video option. this is absolutely fine for audio work, even ok for basic games, and i hold true to my feelings that ati drivers are buggy as all hell and cause problems with many plugins. nvidia any day thanks. go for ht e60gig 7200rpm hdd option, and get a super fast 8mb cache 7200 external fw drive. you're pretty much all set then.

I've been shopping laptops for a while as well. I've been leaning twards a Sager laptop.

They're not cheap, but at least they give options that let you decide what goes inside and what doesn't.

I have read on their forums that a P43GIG in a laptop with 2GIG of ram can be noisy due to the fans.
