I think, that he asked you this question in a PM is, not because he was pissed or hurt, I bet he simply wants to know why you didn't like it and didn't want it to appear in public.
Just give him an answer to the question and all will be fine. No need to pull it into the public. I did that with FoxAsteria in public because he wanted it that way and als wanted to simply know why he gets the voting he gets.
It is one way to improve your skills. Often I don't care for details which are important for others. If that would vote me down, I can learn. In other cases I make conscious decisions which are disliked, and that would rather make me stronger in insisting on those decisions. Either way, it has the potential to let you grow...

UH, wow, is this about me? How interesting. Because I just wrote Harry a private message about that.
...I was wondering how I did him wrong to make him purposely sabotage my points for no other reason than obvious spite and the desire to manipulate the outcome. There's no judgement, quite clearly, other than some weird joy, hoping to push me down, not my tracks. I just don't know why? Did I at some point leave a comment under Harry's track or gave one of his tracks a 1? I just don't remember and I'd love to clear it up. I don't want "bad blood" anywhere and I don't want to be the reason anybody feels inspired to do silly things unless... UNLESS...they're really fun, of course!
So, yeah, since you want to have it out in public rather than a nice private conversation... sure thing!
EDIT: Dang, didn't see this conversation went on for so long... I replied after seeing the back'n'forth between Guenon and Harry. Hmmm....but I just leave what I wrote up there the way it is...

wagtunes wrote:Guenon, if Harry says he truly thinks the song is a 1, you need to take him at his word unless you have definitive proof that his vote was malicious.
Harry, only you know the truth. But I absolutely agree with Guenon. It looks very suspicious.
This is exactly why I feel it's okay for Taron to ask about a vote like that. And in general, for anyone to bravely ask about such things in other contexts, too. Not much more there to it than that, imo, but it's not just an OSC thing. If everyone's participating in good spirits, it's just good conversation and an exchange of opinions, and when a rare taste comes along (literally an unlikely one), an occasional "oh my, I didn't think someone felt that way" astoundment
(I'm well aware of the history of all kinds of OSC drama, hahah, and so, realistically, when such an unlikely combo hits, it's -- again statistically -- more likely there's something else than (only) taste behind the scenes there. Emphasizing the "more likely" one more time. That's just what it is, and another nice reason to talk it over, just in case. But in a friendly manner and respecting the wish of handling it privately, if that is the case.)

Yes, everyone can read my question above, and define, if your reasoning is cool or not.Guenon wrote:No, I don't know that myselfHarry_HH wrote:Your reasoning here doesn´t make any sense, and you know that yourself.
Once you think its OK here to pick up one vote and define, if its "statistically correctly voted", we all liked to see your analysis of all the voters.. I think my reasoning was pretty cool there, actually. Hehe.
You are also already subtly arguing a different thing. The question is now, "is it OK here to pick up one vote and define if it's 'statistically correctly voted?" Now, slippery slope calling and all that; this was about a PM you received from a participant you voted in the above manner, and yeah, in my opinion it's perfectly okay to ask about a vote that is this much of an outlier, especially if it feels weird in the receiving end. You know, ask about it and what was the reasoning behind the opinion that nobody else shared with you, and in turn, even you yourself only felt when listening to that one particular track.
After all, if it's all an open vote, and everyone (including the voter) is really participating in good spirits, discussing such a rare opinion shouldn't be a problem.
Your reply to my question is, that you pick up a single vote, argue that that was wrongly voted, and your conclusion is, that its absolutely OK to go through the votes per members, and send prive messages to the voters, and complain if the voting doesn´t happen to please.
Well, now we know that.
BTW, I asked the link to the all votes per members of each challenge, can you add that link to this thread. In that way we all can calculate the invariances, i.e. "statistical injustice" we possibly have faced.

AAHHHHH, here's the original message from dear Harry!Harry_HH wrote:To my astonishment, I received a pm from an active OSC-challenger, he complained my low points to him in the OSC voting: “...do you honestly believe that my music, the work and love I put into it and the decades of experience that goes with it is pure filth to your ears “.
I don´t want to name that person, he can come forward himself, if he will. But that message rose a couple of questions to me, concerning the OSC:
1. Is this kind of influence in harmony of the spirit of the OSC?
2. So far I have believed, that the OSC voting is anonymous? If I have missunderstood, I ask the OSC organizers to send me the link, where I can see all the voting points of each challenge per each Kvr member.
On the other hand, if the voting is not open in that way, shouldn´t this rule concern all the partcipants?
Can it be so, that some OSC participants can see the voting results of other members, but some can´t? Its clear, that the OSC organizers/tellers have to see the votes per names, but those tellers shouldn´t be at the same time contenders of the same challenge.
In any case, trying to influence voters with the private mails, and being able to see all the voting results plus taking part to the competition at same time, should be out of the question, according to my scandinavian sense of justice.
This is not a big deal for me, and I don´t want to crucify anyone, but in the spirit of transparency, I think it would good to make to rules clear, equally for everyone, of this great competition.
So, my friend, how ridiculously silly can it get to actually come out here and complain about a private message of mine to you. I kept seeing it every month (or at least the few month I cared to look at the result sheet), that you gave Jasinski 5 points and 1 to me with great consistency, leaving the rest fairly untouched for the most part. Now, I'm a big fan of Jasinski's, which is why I shrugged it off for a few months, but after the nth time I felt like I should ask you what on earth I must've done to you, or if you simply wanted to make sure "your chosen horse wins the race"...something like that?!
You felt like you could anonymously manipulate the outcome and didn't realize that it's there for everyone to see. Maybe I should've asked you the very first time already? I'm sorry I left you running into this kind of embarrassment. Might've been the wiser choice for you to keep it private. But suit yourself!

As previously advised, the link to the vote chart is always in the same post where the results are published. And from my experience, perusing the data and engaging in delightful tea time conversation on the thrills of said figures is frequently a top pastime around these parts already.Harry_HH wrote:BTW, I asked the link to the all votes per members of each challenge, can you add that link to this thread. Höhö.
Nice way to contribute in making the Diodow OSC thread a record breaking one in its length, however.

To me voting is not anonymous manipulation.
But maybe this tells as much about the different cultures as much as about the people.

You fool, haha, you're the only one! I've had private conversations with two other people after a public discussion, because it was important to me to keep it friendly. Face it, you fell on your face. Luckily you really, really deserved it, but I'm the last one to wanting to keep you down. So, pick yourself up, get real and understand that you misjudged who I am and what you're doing. We all continue to have to grow and face our own challenges. There's no weakness in making mistakes, but only to let them define you.Harry_HH wrote:Hypocrisy at it peak...They guy is talking about "anonymoys manipulation", and he himself is sending private messages to the voters.
