Wags, I listened to your track just now, and I think it's excellent

[edit: and not referring to the chart you just posted before this post, with "excellent" as one tier :P, it seems. I mean, in my opinion it's excellent, period. Hah.]

Thanks. I just listened to it again and if I were casting a vote, I'd be torn between a 2 and a 4. On the one hand, it's quite complex and eerie. In the other hand, it's quite weird and strange. But I do know this much. I would NEVER give something like that a 1. But trust me, I'll get 'em. A good 18 to 20% of the voters will give me a 1. There are a lot of people here who, like it or not, if your track isn't kick and snare with all the stereotypical EDM staples, you're just not going to do well. Certainly a track like mine, that goes out of its way to be different, isn't going to do well.

We'll probably have about 35 entries. I'll finish around 33rd. I may very well finish 35th because of the sheer bazaar nature of the track. It gives people an "excuse" to rate it a 1 because they can simply say "It's not even music." Who could argue with them?

As it's doubtful that another synth is going to come along that inspires me like this one did (most free synths do nothing for me) this will most certainly be my last OSC. As it is, I entered very few of them over the past year, for obvious reasons.

Anyway, good luck to all the contestants. I am truly looking forward to hearing what they did with this amazing synth.

Weeeell... Yeah, hmm, I think it's best just to wait and see instead of making too lengthy predictions, though :). Stuff like that can sometimes go into self-fulfilling prophecy territory, just because it sort of... loads the atmosphere with certain kind of pessimism towards an outcome. I don't mean OSC specifically here, but these sorts of situations in general.

For what it's worth, in my opinion it's a very strong entry, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks. Now you see how seldom I enter these. Completely forgot. Fixed.

Darksynth FX wrote:My submission. It's a short cinematic style track which came along quite naturally. There's also a little story behind the track if anyone's interested (following the track chronologically):

The annoying "quaking voices" stand for all the bad stuff in life, the people or your "inner demons" which always try to bring you down. The "way on/wait on" voices try to stop them, to not let them take control of your life. The vibraphone-like lead is trying to balance things out and is followed by an even stronger "way on/wait on" part. The bad voices get weaker and finally there's a "singing bowl" outro which should lead to one's personal inner harmony and preferably world peace too. LOL I should not read so much esoteric books.

DAW: Ableton Live 10 Suite
12x Diodow
15x Ableton EQ8
1x Voxengo Stereo Touch
1x Ableton Glue Compressor
1x Voxengo Tube Amp
1x Ableton Limiter
1x TAL Reverb II (Send)
1x Ableton Simple Delay (Send)
Sorry people if this sounds a bit negative and for quoting myself but I had such a f$&%$%&%&g day today. :help: My track and the story behind it really resemble my life situation at the moment (so much more than when I made the track) and I am trying hard to not let the bad stuff win.

Also I have to say that I am incredibly thankful for the One Synth Challenge, it cheers me up every month and I can't wait for the new synth to be announced!

Believe me, I know what those days are like. My music gets me through them.

I tried downloading the playlist for my daily workout - should be interesting :)

But if my calculations are correct: bh9090, satYatunes, functionform, bryemye - no download link! You're already at a disadvantage :P

[Edit: And one of you ("aqwaDIYDUB Diodow KVR OsC") uploaded the file without adding a file extension. Might be confusing for non-technical Soundcloud users downloading your track]

This has not been brought up before, don't really have chance to fix.
TBH I don't think it really matters as my tracks rarely do well

Sorry, I didn't realize that.

Yeah, it's not like droves of people rush to download my tracks on Soundcloud, either.

In case anyone else downloads Eauson's track: It's a .wav-file. :)

No need to be sorry, just means my style/sounds are not too everyone's taste.
I would like the opportunity to download but I only have small windows of time of internet per day and download speeds of snail like quality :)
Like fathom 114 mb :(

Ah, I actually meant that I was sorry that I brought up something that had been mentioned before.

That's NOT to say that I'm unsympathetic to the fact that you don't get the love I'm sure you deserve. :P
