Exactly a year after 2.0 was released, 2.3 is up for free download for owners of 2.x license.

Small list of things added in 2.x:
- universe of 30+ modulators, to be attached to native & 3rd party devices,
- new devices (Amp, Phase-4 synth) + numerous improvements to existing ones,
- new audio & note (MIDI) effects,
- improved integration with hardware, through MIDI as well as CV/Gate,
- improved stretching, incl. Elastique algorithms,
- time signature changes,
- Ableton Link,
- VST3 support,
- and lots more - details here: https://www.bitwig.com/en/bitwig-studio ... dio-2.html

Gotta say, it's been an impressive year!

Such an amazing tool.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Elastique time stretching is absolutely stunning. Sounds better than Cubase, Studio One, Ableton Live and Logic! I don't know how your integrations differs from Cubase or Studio One, but it just sounds super clean...

Thanks for the heads up on Bitwig Studio 2.3 official release.

So.. What's next ? 2.4 ? or .... ?

How fantastic that Bitwig brought to us just for one year!

I'd think we're still gonna get few v2.x releases - revamped Sampler, workflow tweaks, maybe new devices & modulators - and v3.0 will be reserved for the version with open modular environment and/or online collaboration. Or they'll still do it in a late v2 to make good on their promise.

This is something I asked from them looong time ago and the person who answered me, said that they're working on it and it'll come soon. A year from that "promise". Won't be upgrading before I get my freaking sampler :D

I just want to see a couple of workflow features:

1) Keyboard shortcuts to move the playback head forward and backward 1 bar. Cubase has this and I use it all the time.

2) Retrospective record. Again, a feature Cubase has had forever, and one which is essential to my way of working.

Won't renew my subscription until we get these, sorry to say. I've enjoyed using Bitwig 2 for this past year but always came back to Cubase because of these workflow features.
A well-behaved signature.

I noticed they have audio fades and crossfading listed as a new or improved feature - How is Bitwig as a multitrack audio editor now?

Post

I'm happy with Bitwig 2.3!

Bitwig is rounding nicely into shape! Has some unique and powerful functionality not in other DAW's. Plus Phase-4 is an excellent synth! It is up there with the top commercial VST's.

Look forward to future updates!

Still no AU support :(

Post

Wait, Can I go from Version 1 to 3 for 160 when its come out or will there be a new price scheme?

Post

I hope they add a video player/video track in the near future.

The first one Is possible with a controller that has transport buttons. So I think the functionality is there but missing shortcut key option for computer keyboard.
