This is a great value deal, especially because you can mail Synapse Audio after purchasing it and they'll give you serial for The Legend VST for free :)

Only if you got it at full price, I thought?
No, I bought previous Synapse Collection (same price, one less effect) and I got VST for free.

@antic604: Are you saying that they will give you The Legend VST free after the Reason 10 upgrade, or only if you buy (or already own) the Synapse Collection?

Thanks,

Why would you get the Legend VST when you upgrade Reason? :P

Post

Dunno...I'm new to Reason and just trying to understand stuff. Thanks for the clarification.

The offer to get the Legend VST comes from Synapse of course, as they are the ones developing it, and offering the VST/RE crossgrade, so, yeah, it's only available when you buy the Synapse bundle, or if you buy the Legend RE.

Got it. I also got clarification that the $480 of free instruments isn't included in the upgrade, which is cool. I'm trying to decide whether it's a worthy investment for me, since I primarily use S1v3. The included instruments seem cool (based on the demo), and I see that they can be rewired. The flow is way different (for me), but not unmanageable at all.

If someone doesn't grab my Limited license from the forum soon, I may just jump. Thanks again for helping a Reason newbie!

Good suggestion about ReSpire. When I finish exploring Europa and and see what I have from Thor and Grain, I'll download the trial which will be full for 30 days I think, so I have enough time to decide.

I'm not sure about Antidote especially that I have Dune 2 VST and it works great in Reason 10.

I've already done that, I have the VST version ;) Thanks to Richard for his kind and fast response/transfer (actually super fast!) :)

Yeah, ReSpire if you can score it for one of their big sale prices (usually $69 USD), but I'd pass on Antidote at this point and grab Blamsoft/eXode's Expanse, instead. Much better synth, IMHO.

That's of course if you can't already coax what you need out of Reason 10's own Europa, which is a pretty capable wavetable workhorse, IMHO. I find myself rarely reaching for Spire, Expanse, or Antidote lately.
I agree with that Europa has so much to be explored! I don't know about Expanse though. I will try it when there is a discount on it.

I'm mostly interested now in two or three synths. Parsec and PX7 (or FM4, one of the two). I can't demo PX7 as I already demoed two years ago when I had Reason 7/8, so not sure how it compares now to other DX7 emulations. I know FM4 as I already have it in my iPad and it is a fantastic FM synth, but I can't compare it with PX7 (the sound).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Alright. You rather won't need it then as, as far as i know, Antidote was kind of a "side product" of Dune 2. Dune 2 can surely do a lot more, and the base tone should be quite similar.

Also, if you own, or demo'd Spire, you can probably also pass on ReSpire, because it's exactly the same as Spire. The only advantage i really see is that you can snatch it for 69 €, when it's on a sale.

I thought it has many ins and outs when I flip the synth, but I just see CV/Gate in while in Parsec and PX7, for example, there are many possible connections with other synths/tools.

Actually, the routing is the main reason I want to buy Rack Extensions. Otherwise, I have everything in VST. Although to be honest I can make crazy routing between the VST and Reason's plugs inside Combinator, but I prefer the cables when I flip the racks :hihi:

They announced they'd be adding CV/Gate stuff at some point, but, you'll never know when or if. Guess it's better to wait and see than to hold your breath. :)

Dune 2 (as well as Serum) patch browsing works fantastic with Reason as well, since they both use the FXP patch format outside of their own proprietary browser. I prefer browsing Dune 2 and Serum presets via Reason’s browser instead. Makes them feel like “native rack devices”. And yeah, if you have Dune 2 - don’t even bother with Antidote. Or Expanse.
