Is anyone using 64 bit Reaper 5.76, Windows 7 experiencing sporadic activity with glide?

Everett is hunting it down via the other Fathom thread, but I don't want to waste his time if it's specific to my set up. Glide is unusable for me atm.

On a side note, I really like the built in reverbs and pretty much everything else as well :)

@Peter, fwiw, I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to samples/wavetables. If the synth can do it, go for it. I'm not one that does, but I'm not knowledgeable enough in regards to wavetable creation to even try. I will most likely resort to some form of that for crash cymbals, though.

The size of the buffers was not chosen due to the number of samples per single cycle at various note frequencies or sample rates.

It was chosen as a function of how accurate and how smooth the waveform is when samples are pulled from the waveform buffer.

It is the exact same idea as the resolution on an HDTV screen. The more samples the higher the resolution and the smoother the function which translates directly to lower aliasing.

There is lower aliasing with a 16K buffer than with a 4K buffer regardless of the sample rate or which note frequency is being played.

Does anybody have an awesome clap patch for fathom that they'd like to share??

Most of my perc is done, but I've been substituting a sampled 80's Roland style clap for composition purposes - and the whole song just *collapses* when I take it out - it's driving the whole song, and I can't seem to fill the hole it has left behind!

I *promise* I won't win the competition, haha... :hihi:

Awesome! Like.... *awesome*!!! :o

Not only have you provided a cool full-version of synth for the month.... you've saved my song!! And quickly!! Thank you :D

ps. Seriously thanks for the help, and sorry if this seems like cheating to anyone - I'm just not that great at synth programming yet... At all! I'm still at the stage where most of my effort is still in trying to program and mix a decent sounding composition with whatever sounds I can scratch together from tweaking presets

This is embarassing. I can't figure out how to reliably save over a previous version of a patch. Most of the time it creates a new save even though I have selected a previous patch and clicked save. Is there a trick to this? I just delete the old version when I do this.

Post

Functionform, are you going to the browser and hitting save or using the buttons in the top bar (which I haven't quite figured out).

I've just been doing the browser save and it seems to be working out. As long as the patch name is the same as what your replacing, it should just replace it.

Also has anyone noticed the fundamental decreasing in volume while its next harmonic gains in volume after a filter is added? If I loop for > 10 minutes or so I can see it happen in the freq. Doesn't seem to happen when no filter is attached, but it will once a filter is added (tried with resonant low pass and a butterworth I believe).

I'm going to the browser (under main graph), selecting something so that the row turns orange and then clicking the save button (under the main graph). It saves it as New Program every time. The delete keyboard button doesn't work for me either so whenever I have to delete something I click the Delete button in the same row.

What is the patch called in the "name" box before you save? It sounds like you may be saving a patch from scratch, or Fathom thinks you are. I don't think clicking on the actual patch in the browser has any affect on what is being chosen to save. Very strange if that's not what's going on.

Oh, and by name box, I'm talking about the box in the upper right hand corner, not the name column of the browser.

If it say's New Program, type in the actual name.

Here is an example of the fundamental volume shift I wrote.

At step 1 is where I intended it. At step 2, it decided it wants to emphasize the higher harmonic. It goes back down eventually. I'm just looping.
