There is a marquee tool: hold alt + left drag
That is a lasso tool. A marquee tool would snap to the grid and highlight only the portion of the clips under the selection instead of the whole object.
If the devs implemented something like "double click splits the marqueed area" one could do editing on the fly without having to stop playback to move the cursor to the split point
... hmm, I thought, that´s the same...
I know, what you describe as a region... but ok... :hihi:

3) Audio render of all the separate channels of a multi out VST. I use Addictive Drum 2. I like to have all the different channels separated (the rack workflow is pretty awesome). Only issue is that when I output the stems, the output channels produce empty stems. Also, If I solo one of the multi outs, the signal shouldn't stop (because the parent channel with the MIDI info doesn't play)
Hey check this video out. Nice!

I got the MTPower Kit set up like the tutorial shows, and then saved the track folder as a preset and everything. Then I proceeded to apply the same trick to Addictive Drums 2. I have a new AD2 multi track folder preset that I can drag into any project, ready to go!

In either case, muting or soloing a track in this setup only mutes or solos that output. It took a little experimenting with the discrete outputs in AD2 in the Plugin Rack, as they are not all sequential stereo outputs.

I had to manually connect a few outputs to get the kit pieces on their correct tracks. The kick, snare, hats, & toms 1, 2, 3 have discrete outputs, but they are mono and you have to connect them to L & R outs in the Rack to hear on both channels on the track and get them centered.

Tom 4 and the Flexis 1-3 share a stereo output, and the Overhead, Room, and Bus outputs have their own stereo outs.

that looks very interesting. Do you have any strategies to then output the single channels to separate stems?
When I hit export (to separate tracks) it will only output silent files.

Actually, I guess you could just route the single track outputs to the inputs of a bunch of empty tracks that will then be recording the audio stream...

Yup, that works. You can drop your MIDi patterns onto any of the tracks assigned to the rack to be routed to the drum kit. Then in addition to monitoring them for audio playback, assign the audio output of those tracks to the corresponding additional empty tracks armed for recording.

Unless I am missing something in Waveform, I believe that export audio only works if you have actually recorded audio into some tracks. So you would need to record the performance before you could export it as audio.

I am not aware of a synth track 'mixdown' to audio, or 'freeze' synth type of function that would generate the audio output automatically. I have seen that elsewhere, but not here...

I might have missed the point here, but if you have a MIDI track with a VSTi on it, you can export it directly as audio.

That doesn't work with a multi output instrument. You get all the audio exported to one stereo file, not separate audio stems.

Ah, I did wonder, but didn't get the chance to try it.

Yeah, I have created a template with a few empty tracks ready to receive the drum stems.
it's a little extra step and to be fair it's not too disruptive to the workflow.
Altho then I sure wish you could group clips across tracks and do multi track comping.
I think it's one of the features that are yet to come

Here is a shot of my setup with 8 tracks from the MTPower Drum Kit, as covered in the tutorial. The good news is that since you can save a 'track' preset with the entire setup, you only need to do it once, and then you can drag it into any new project as needed. :D

So, is anyone else having problems with the demo noise? Even though I've registered it (says so on the splash screen) I'm getting a near continuous stream of noise swells, like demo'ing a particularly crap selection of ocean samples. Kind of impossible to demo so guessing it shouldn't be doing this?

Also, any one have issues with the main level slider? Pops up a slider when I click on it but then either doesn't move or else look scorrupted/flickery?

You can do the same with Addictive Drums 2, but the outputs are a little more fiddly to get arranged in the rack. I do prefer AD2, although MT Power is OK for some quick drums.

As far as muting single outputs, this setup works fine as long as you don't mute the track with the MIDI clip(s) on it, or that will silence the drum kit. I suppose you could split the MIDI events by kit piece onto separate tracks, or if using one MIDI clip for all pieces, just place it on a separate MIDI track to enable muting outputs without interfering with MIDI playback. Or just use the mixer in the drum VST for muting individual outputs as needed. In my example pic, the MIDI clip is located on the Kick drum track. I can mute any other track except that one.

Have you got any unregistered plug-ins? It shouldn't be making the noise if it's registered.
