HELP please! ST2 Free Freeze

I was using ST2 Free to try and figure out how to make it work in Samplitude 7 before I install my 2LE(never used MIDI in that program before and the documentation for VSTi's and MIDI is pretty lame). After a few hours I gave up and decided to look for a VSTi standalone host to give a try to. So I got Chainer.

Started Chainer, loaded ST2 Free and the Epiano73 sound. I played around with that sound for a while and thought I'd try the free drums. But when I tried to load that sound, the whole computer froze. Not even the Vulcan nerve pinch would do anything. Had to hard boot and tried again with a different sound. Same freeze up. Went back and tried the Epiano73 again. Yep, that one froze it up too.

I can't figure out what happened. Tried a few other VSTi plugins (B4 demo, Mr. Ray) and had no problems. So I figure the problem must be ST2 Free.

Any suggestions? Bizarre that it worked fine until I changed the sound and now it won't work at all.

And I've tried it now in several different hosts, always locks up. And I've uninstalled and reinstalled it seeing if that made a difference (it didn't).

My worry is that when I install my ST2 LE, it's gonna do the same thing. Or is this just a problem with the Free version?

Okay, so I got rid of 2Free and installed my 2LE as an evaluation copy. It still freezes up Chainer, but I was able to load it in Tracktion and switch sounds without problem.

Whew... now if we can just figure out how to get it working in Samplitude (not freezing in there, we just can't get any sound out of it yet). Maybe we'll wait for Version 8 which is supposed to have much better VSTi implementation.

It doesn't freeze up Chainer from me and I use that all the time. But, not the other stuff so IK tech support can have a look.
