the problem with chord exploration is usually how to change the chord structure easily (how to create open one, how to build different voice distributions), Captain Play and the MIDI triggerable phrase clips of Nora know the trick(on mac)

Sigh....I really hope the captain-plugins for win will come soon. Odesi as vst, really, really looking forward for this. In my opinion the most "easy-to-use" and capable stuff in this corner.

Cubase has the "Chord Tracks" and "Chord Pads" feature that makes it very easy to work with chord progressions.
Alternatively, you could try EZKeys which has a similar feature.
Or if you just need the basics then most DAWs has some midi plugin feature to convert one key to a chord or arp in a scale.

Reaper pianoroll. Just download ReaScales (tons of scales) and hit "key snap" and you never miss a note.

This shows some features that transform button contents playing, including chord replacing. Some changes were the result of using the mouse wheel on checked features.
