Hello,

I am having a problem with adding some VST fx to VSTi tracks on Cubase SX. Whenever I try to add an effect to an instrument, I just get the MIDI FX options.

How do I go about fixing this without recording the VST ' dry ' then exporting it to audio?.

Add an insert (or send fx for that matter) on the _audio_ channel for the instrument, adding fx on the midi channel will ofcourse result in adding... midi fx :)

But when I load a VST instrument it is assigned to a MIDI track but not an audio track. Is there a way around this?! ( me thinks I should read manuals more and stop using FL Studio lol )

look at your sx mixer: there is a VSTi track in there, and a MIDI track for MIDI FX (assuming you've loaded 1 VSTi into a empty project). You need the VSTi track.

When cubase loads a vst instrument it assigns it to a midi track for control and an audio track so you can hear it.If you open the cubase mixer, locate your instruments midi channel and then scroll to the right of this you will eventually see an audio track(or more than one if instrument has multiple output routing)with your instruments name on it.You can apply vst fx to this track.

hope that helps
