I am new to the world of VST sequencers. Until now , I've worked mostly with MIDI-sequencers and I have done some things with Computer Muzys. I love VSTi's and therefore I have this question:

I would like to know with which program (sequencer, soft studio, etc.) it is possible to play several VSTi's at once in 'real time', like when you play several hardware synths set on the same MIDI channel?
In Computer Muzys this does not seem possible.

I don't know if I get what you mean. Anyway, you really should check out Tracktion. Is very easy to use, allow you to play one VST + Effects per Track using your Midi-Keyboard, plus Audio-Tracks, to record voices, guitars, etc...

Hope that helps. Otherwise, you can make a list of questions so I can help you more. ;-)

EnergyXT can do exactly that!

It´s a modular VST host inside your VST host (and it´s standalone too)

Chek it out...don´t have the adress but do a google search!

Vaz 2010 and Vaz modular can do this.

You can actually play 16 vsti´s at the same time if your cpu can manage!

You can do that in Tracktion, easy, I do it all the time. I even have some MIDI filtering/shifting plugins that let me create splits and layers across the keyboard, so I can get some majorly phat and complex sounds going realtime!

I've used eXT as well, it takes a little longer to get it up and going, though - I'm not a huge fan of totally modular environments (I want to play music damnit, not fiddle with boxes) so I'm a bit biased there.

Linux Mint, Waveform 13 Pro, U-He synths, Audio Damage effects,.

Live 4, Cubase, Orion, and FL Studio can all do that - depending on how you set up the channels/ports and which ones you've selected for monitoring, etc, etc.

En het kost geen drol! :D
I mean.... it's cheap as hell. From what I've heard that feature is enable in the demoversion so if that's all you need... then it's for free. Load up the vsti version in your host and you can load the vsti's you want to "double" into EnergyXT and route them all to the same output.
Even me ( a drummer by heart) managed to make it work...:-o

If you look for a new host which can do the job.... then listen to the other guys over here.
Although EnergyXT is a host too...... there's a stand alone version (host) and there are versions that act like a host within your host.... any host that is....
OK, I'll shut up now...

Chainer may be what you are looking for. Try the demo, it'll work as a stand-alone. You can easily load a lot of vst's and access their presets and stuff, including effects. At least, I think it does all that--I gave it up long ago for me wuvly Twacktion!!

if you're looking to open up multiple vsts and play them standalone with a midi keyboard? art technika console. it will open vst and dx instruments and fx, and you put them together modular-fashion.
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.

Post

oh, yeah, and console also opens up in a vst or dx host as an instrument or fx plug, and you can build it up in there, too.

Hey, you can do that in Project5 or SONAR 3 or higher.

In fact you cn play multiple synths from one controller with or without splits, or play multiple synths from multiple controllers.
I'm glad the c major scale was invented before copyright law

Thx for all your input! Especially pointing me towards EnergyXT was very helpfull. It was extremely easy to bundle several VSTi's on one track! Very cool. Btw. I also accomplished the same thing this afternoon with ... Synthedit! Go figure! Although EnergyXT was more userfriendly I must say :-).

Have you lookled at ORION? It is very much the same process as you would be used to in hardware. You assign a MIDI channel to each instrument. You just need to select Advanced MIDI mode and enable MIDI In.
