hi, one question:
is there a chance to offer dexed 0.9.4 (and further) again as a extractable archive ?
i only find a installer for this.

i loved the archive version because it doesnt matter where i unpack it and run it. and i know under which location i have to find it and everything else

that would be very cool ! :ud:

dexed ? :tu:

don't know if it's the place for it, but i have one request : resizable GUI/window. i can't see anything without breaking my back on a big screen. aside of that and no glide/portamento, this is the best plug in i've ever laid my hands on. thanks !

Yes, when Zebra 3 is released. Probably sooner, like in 2018.
Portamento is the only thing I miss in Dexed which after years and years remains in my top 5 go-to synths that I use everyday and would take with me if I had to finish my life on an island.
:)

Thanks BlackWinny (and thanks for the cartridges). Yes next version will implement the glide/portamento; and the DX7 does it with a lot a functionalities that I want to implement correctly. I prefer the no rush and do it right.

Cheers to the intrepid and brave devs.

is there some documentation of the controller id's for the patch parameters, like CC values or something?

are there controller id's/CC values for each parameter generally speaking?

reason is, i would like to create a frontend editor for Dexed, and just use Dexed as the engine. Possible?
To map a CC id, you simply right click on the parameter and click on "Map controller to midi" and move the controller CC. Otherwise you can map it directly with the Dexed setting by checking into the Dexed.xml file. Keep in mind that there is about 140 parameters in the DX7 and the midi mapping CC is limited to less than about120 (if you count the pedal, modulation wheel and more).

Thanks !!!

Since I already maintain the installer, I prefer having one installer method to avoid confusion. As a developer I do prefer "compressed binaries", but I think that for the "general public" the installers are easier to support.

Yes, I need to rewrite the UI, both the scaling and the CPU usage. Sadly, the collaborator for the UI actually disappear (Kvr member AZZZ) and now I have to look what are the options in 2018 (the UI was done in 2014 with KnobMan...)

Collaboration are welcomed ... :help:

May I be so bold as to suggest working with ENV1:

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=263835

He did the fantastic GUI for PG-8X and many others.

https://www.kvraudio.com/product/pg-8x-by-ml-vst

In my opinion he is one of the most talented VST GUI designers on the planet.

He may hate me for suggesting him but it's worth asking if he would be interested. :D

And if ENV1 could not, Layzer could be an excellent alternative.

Thanks for the compliment.

(Am i blushing?) :D

Thats a horrible screenshot though, way darker than the UI really is and totally blurred too.

Not sure if Martin posted it like this or the forum just messed it up, but before it ruins my reputation (lol) heres a good screenshot that shows how it really looks.

I also have to add that this was made in accordance with Martins wishes, i.e. he wanted the UI to be that small, and this didnt allow for larger labels. (Which is something i would have liked to do differently.) In fact i did have a much bigger version with way larger labels and enough room to fit everything thats now on the subpanel, but Martin declined the proposal, and i of course accepted that because after all its his synth and i said i would do whatever he wants, i.e. i always let him have the last word. Screenshot of last WIP (i.e. unfinished) below in case youre bored and want to take a gander.

Anyway, what i consider to be my 'master piece' thus far is the ultra-large UI i recently made for PPG wave 2.3, Waldorf Edition. This was the first UI where i had pretty much all the room i wanted and also the first where i used a 3D program (Blender) to make some of the elements, namely the knobs and the wheels. The fact that everything had to be orthographic strongly limited the '3D-ness' that could ultimately be achieved, (unfortunately), but i gained a lot of new knowledge which im sure will come in handy in future projects. Screenshot below, this thing is huge so be sure to fully enlarge it or some of the labeling will look blurry.

OK, enough about the screenshots, just wanted to say that i would very much like to assist, thing is just that i dont have the time right now to commit to something like this, so all i can say right now is 'maybe at a later date'. (Little sense in saying 'yes, i will do it' and then not being able to deliver because i cant spare the time to actually work on the project.) So right now i have to say no but if there are no other takers and graphics are still needed later i will be happy to see what i can do with this. :)

The PPG is beautiful.

That bigger version of PG-8X is absolutely ace - As it's been a few years since the original version and native screen resolutions have generally got larger I wonder if Martin's arm could be twisted a little to use that bigger one ?

FYI I actually nearly bought PPG wave 2.3 just so I could use that large skin !

I've been absent during almost six months. Would I have missed some happening on KVR?

i just want there to be a sensible envelope control that doesnt require too much mental acrobatics. nobody should be using "rate" in an envelope at this point, because rate can be converted to duration mathematically. if "rate" were a good parameter to use while editing patches, then synths today would be using it. and i fully understand dexed is an emulation, but that doesn't mean the GUI needs to be bound by that convention. (edit, "rate" is probably not a convention, since almost no other synth uses it)
