Hi

I disagree that ableton versions less than suite do not have external instrument included. This is a vital piece to use gear that should be considered stock. Does anyone know if there is a 3rd party vst that can do this in ableton for those who do not have suite?

You have mistaken, the External Instrument device comes stock in Live Standard as well.

So do Ableton. That's why its in Standard as well.

No its not vital, its just convenient. Which is why Ableton's own documentation shows you how to work without it, and how it was done in all versions prior to Live 7.

It's not hard to replicate the functionality of the Ableton plugin in any DAW.

looking for 64bit vst like external instrument for ableton
