ABOUT THE TCS-68

The TCS-68 was made to pay homage to one of the most iconic cassette tape based 8-track recorders introduced in 1990, shortly before digital multitrack recording solutions forced their way through into the consumer market.

The original unit comprised a powerful 10-channel mixer that included a simple 3-band EQ, mic and line inputs as well as insert loops for each channel, an 8-track recorder with an advanced noise reduction system and a clearly arranged meter bridge. Given that it used compact cassettes as a recording medium it's obvious that it was far from high fidelity sounding and thus aimed at semiprofessional users and smaller studios.

The goal when creating the TCS-68 was to do justice to the original sound. So the preamp, the tape system and the EQ have been faithfully recreated.

Hum , why use this kind of plugin and in what situations ?

Post

well, it's a tape/eq plugin, so... when you need a tape and an EQ?
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Post

well , hum spend 29dollars for an eq ?

Post

you're new here, aren't you :D

Reading can be difficult: "preamp, the tape system and the EQ have been faithfully recreated."

Instabuy for me.

Hey sqigls,

Glad you're digging the Bucket-500. Looking forward to your feedback on the TCS-68.

Hi Ray,

I'm interested! What aspects of the tape and preamp sections were modeled?
A well-behaved signature.

Wow, this left me with a great first impression. I cut my teeth on a 488 way back and this really captures the vibe. I also love how Fuse is sticking to simple interfaces and controls; it's so easy to get mired down and lose creativity when you're given infinite choice. I think they're really hitting the sweet spot with form, function, and price.

Never used the real hardware but I love the plugin, it's pure fun and has some nice colors you can combine using tape and preamp saturation. Did I say that I love it? :D

I think he means why would anyone want their digital audio to sound like a crappy cassette tape ?

I had a Tascam 244 and can't not see why anyone would want to emulate that thing. We couldn't wait until digital recording became affordable for the masses and now to see someone who wants to go backwards is baffling. Cassette tape has absolutely no magic to it at all.

Whatever, to each his own I guess.

Next, people will be asking for a plugin to emulate 60Hz Ground Hum..... :dog:

Old does not always equal good.

I'm out......... :wheee:
