this is so unhelpful
why isn't there something free that does what orion does?
or something that comes with fl that is as good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It might help if you laid out for people what features in particular you are looking for. That way, people who have no experience of Orion's sampler might be able to contribute. I was going to recommend Zampler, because we use it all the time, but I don't think I have ever used Sampler's slicer so I don't even know if Zampler has it, although I assume it doesn't. But Zampler was written by Rich for Beat magazine, so it is based on the same software and is compatible with all the same file formats as Sampler. There is also a lot of free content available. Someone has already provided a link, without any explanation at all, but here it is again - http://www.zampler.de/

Personally, we tried switching hosts but found that nothing was anywhere near as good as Orion, so we just moved to Orion 64 bit instead. It is still as rock-solid as ever and it has been a lot less hassle than a complete switch to a totally new host with none of what makes Orion great.

All the same speedy editing capabilities with slight variations on how to go about it
The feature that practically all the daws have?

Except for Reason that also does "slice to REX2" Which is very powerful tool for slices though.
They all slice it to a drum rack which is a series of Simplers that can be right click sent to Sampler for further tweaking of the slice + whatever fx chains you want dragged to each slice?

I didn't realize they all had that
I'm so deserving of your condescending eye roll emoji

Reason has, bitwig has, reaper has, fls has.. I'm pretty sure that it's easier to list daws that don't have.

I do not use Reason or Reaper. I have FL and the slicer doesn't work quite as nicely as Live
I tried Bitwig and was not swayed

I continue to apologize for saying what came closest in my personal experience

Yeah but you can slice to FPC.

And apology accepted. It's awesome when ableton fanboy realizes that he came to force his religion to a wrong place.

No need to bow, since we're all important and equal.

Try google ;)

"Slice to fpc" might take you where you want to go.

Post

ah, ok.
you still have to use sliceX to do it.
i thought there may be a way to just drag and drop and autoslice in FPC itself..

Post

Yeah not as easy as "slice to" and you're done. Though FLS way you can choose and arrange slices on the fly so there's good and bad sides in it.

Post

it's still a good option though.
i will have to look further into this fpc thing.
do you ever use the DirectWave sampler?
i have only ever used SliceX up until now. loads of stuff i have overlooked in FL..
:)
