Great deal! I use B&W 602's, they're smoother and easier to listen to than my flatter monitors (PMC TB2's, Tannoy System 800's, etc.) but I love working on them. I do most of my work on them, then switch to the PMC's for a final check.
Now the question arises; Is this setup worth buying when I intend using them for production, or should I still buy a pair of studio monitors (like Yamaha HS8 etc, been thinking about them for a while) at a normal price?
HS8's are ruler flat down to 70Hz and don't really drop off until 50Hz. That's ridiculous for a 2-way speaker, I don't know why people don't make more of that. If I needed monitors, these are what I'd buy.
I find myself leaning towards the hifi-option in this situation, mainly because I cannot imagine a hifi-setup at 3000USD sounding that much worse than a studio-setup at 600USD.
Indeed! The knee jerk reaction against hifi speakers is usually because people weren't using B&W's. I'd say the B&W's for mastering, the HS8's for mixing. Maybe get the B&W's now and then add HS8's later?

The very first generation of BX8's were decent, though not in the same league as the B&W's and HS8's.

I've been working with my Bowers & Wilkins 602 s3 for many years never tested studio monitors I'm thinking of getting the B&W 705s2 in two months. I want my next speakers to serve all sound purposes, producing, films, music.

B&W makes some of the best studio monitors money can buy. They are extremely well known and respected for their monitors. I have some older 802's (new ones are insanely expensive in comparison) and they are great for checking mixes and VERY enjoyable to listen to in a hifi setting.
