Gotta wonder... would anyone even want this absolute thing instead of komplete?
The halion that comes with cubase is just patch playback and nothin else with some wack 90s soundin shit so I don't even install it. Doesn't give high hopes for the full thing you know?
What's special bout halion 6 vs kontakt? Anything jump out for 250 bucks?

Steinberg is a "download-once-install-many" whereas Kontakt via N-Access pushes for each machine to have its own downloads.Armagibbon wrote: What's special bout halion 6 vs kontakt?
As an experiment, I removed Komplete Ultimate from my systems and then subsequently sold it. While I still have sample libraries for it and may one day opt to get Kontakt 6 if it ever comes out just to use one particular library, I don't think I would ever waste my time and energy again on anything else in their product line again (well, maybe Guitar Rig 6).
In short, I'm much happier and my time has greatly freed up without Native Instruments. But I also doubt I need the full Absolute 3 package either. Had it with Cubase and never used anything but my separate license for H6 which for me is complete enough for what it does.

The Halion Sonic SE that comes with Cubase primarily uses sounds from the original Yamaha Motif from 2001, along with a few select sounds from newer Yamaha keyboards.Armagibbon wrote:Gotta wonder... would anyone even want this absolute thing instead of komplete?

Halion 6 and Halion Sonic 3 use an almost completely different and much newer set of samples, and also offer 4 very good sounding synth engines (wavetable, granular, synth, organ, FM sometime in the future). Halion Sonic 3 is widely regarded as one of the best if not the best workstation-style synth around. The editability is also far deeper than HS SE.
I think comparing Halion 6 with Kontakt is apples and oranges. Most people only buy Kontakt for the third party libraries, while Halion makes creating your own sounds or editing existing presets accessible and fast. The interface is also extremely customizable, allowing you to speed up pretty much any task.
The full version of Groove Agent 4 also comes with almost completely different content compared to the version that comes with Cubase. I personally quite like the electronic kits. Not everyone likes the stock acoustic kits (these will probably be replaced in GA5), but the expansions are pretty good.

I've got Absolute 3 and Komplete 11. There are things I like better about each.
Halion 6 is able to be configured to my liking much easier than Kontakt.
I would have to be able to write scripts for Kontakt for things that are readily available in Halion,
and I can't, and don't want to have to write scripts.
I really like Guitar rig and Battery 4 from Komplete, as well as a couple others.
Absolute is deep enough that I don't have a grasp on a lot of it yet.
But everything I've wanted to do with it is pretty easy to accomplish.
Most people probably wouldn't use everything that's included in either one,
but I guess that's the case with all the collections.
Hey Romantique Tp: I spent some time on a few chats with a couple Steinberg people today,
and I'm happy to say that they got me up and running smoothly, after a few panicky moments
of losing all my licenses. But all is OK now.
Still can't get on the forum there, but I can live with that.

I bought Absolute 3 last Black Friday. But it was 40% off then, not 50%.
A better deal now.

Here's just Halion SE (the free version with cubase) playing a quick mock up, it has keyswitches for the guitar and strings and stuff, this isn't even halions new multi sampled string/brass librarys
it also comes with so many synths, I'm just talking about halion so far, and really amazing granular sampling, state of the art. I'm thinking of buying just for halion, the other included products are great as well lol
