youre also right about it being even long for unloading/loading... fxfreeze does this, but you can select if you use a non-unloading freeze, or a RAM saving freeze (ultrafreeze)

ok, granted..... its NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART..gol wrote:ok so it's
and 2 posts later it'swell the most important part of the freezing is the automated loading and unloading of plugins..
That's why I don't think I'm gonna bother - it would work but most people wouldn't understand it.gol youre a stubborn guy.. its not just about unloading plugins....
I ran a poll in the FL forum not so long ago anyway, the results weren't that convincing.
I would find it cool to be able to freeze parts of the song, but if that means complaining that generators can't be unloaded..
listen gol, what i mean here is that like you said, FL doesnt TRULY disable generators... and there are a decent amount that still use cpu when unchecked.
thats what i meant about loading and unloading. If you can make it so that generators are REALLY disabled, then unloading it isnt a problem, unless its for RAM reasons, which are still ALTOGETHER VALID.
you can take it out of whatever context you want, it doesnt matter. And true, not having this feature will not destroy my devotion to FL
and yes, i saw that poll.. and the way it looked to me, is just about everyone wanted it.. perhaps they didnt make a 5 page essay about WHY, but they did want it... perhaps some were just following the buzzzz, but they wATNED it!!!
ack, but i guess that people just see what they want to see sometimes.

you know, do people totally understand all the things that are in FL, they keyboard controller, the internal automation?? But they are still useful to use REAL users... (well actually i still dont know much about the internal automation and controllers ahem..)gol wrote:

isnt this confusing?
first gol is like...
grrr, no freeze, because i think everyone wants it cause its a buzz word and they dont really know what it is
then hes like
grrrr, no freeze cause it would work but no one would understand it...
ok, so you get miffed at the idea that people just would want a feature cause everything else has it, just blindly without understanding, and then say they couldnt understand it anyway??
cornfusin i tells ya

Bullshit. Logic doesn't unload anything when you freeze. The plugins are still there, but they are muted (so they take no CPU). And when you try to edit a knob of a frozen plugin, then you just can not do that - instead a freeze icon appears at mouse position.Jaeson Merrill wrote:.. its not just about unloading plugins.... but that is something you need to do... its what every freeze process does!!

Hey Dr. wackler,
I'm just currious about your sig. I know it's the meir of a little village (kruibeke) in belgium. So why you use it as your sig. Is there a story to it.
I seem to remember that Jo(Muzys) is from Kruibeke: any relation?
Ciao

Gol--
I keep belaboring this point because I'm looking to get some sort of response from you on this. But we already have something very close to freezing...it's called "render by selection". This actually does a lot of what freezing does, less the unmuting of insturments and effects. Close enough.
What we don't have is an easy way to unfreeze...that is, an easy way to get rid of the rendered audio clip. I suspect that if we had an easier way of getting rid of an audio clip from our system, then more people (like myself) would be appt to render tracks to save cpu. You might even get less requests to implement freezing

Yes I knew, it's close to where I live. Somebody told me. I remember that all fruityloopers, the Smartelectronix founders and Jo are all from Gent(oost-vlaanderen) or villages arround.dr.wackler wrote:Without me you wouldn't know that Jo is from Kruibeke.kagemusha wrote:any hints?

j/k
i thought it was the same as samplitudes, which does..or fxfreeze's
geez, some ppl are so sensitive.
basically what i mean is
freeze the track,
then make it so the plugin isnt working anymore
take my technicalities out of context if you like, that is what i mean, and you are all oversensitive to minor little things ;P
hehe, j/k...
EDIT: man, im sarcastic in the mornings... edited for niceness.

I could do that easily in Cubase VST...audio pool-> highlight audio clip->delete. Audio folder (which I always keep a link open on the tool bar)->highlight audio clip->delete. Easy as that. Any host can do it I'm sure. 6 clicks and it's gone, and my plugins are still all loaded. What we don't have is an easy way to unfreeze...that is, an easy way to get rid of the rendered audio clip. Freeze just isn't that amazing I'm afraid - any of you with a decent host can already do everything any freeze function can do. I'll bow out ungracefully now.... To me, functions like the Warp thingummy are far more useful and interesting than anything Steinberg or anybody else does with Freezing - they can make it as fast, slow as they want - it's just a bone-idle bugger's short-cut is all.
