KHS One is quite old one. Its due for an update. If they made a new version i'm sure it would be very competitive.fluffy_little_something wrote:I have uninstalled both One and the Chorus now, in my view kHs are not on the same level as leading developers yet, sorry to say that

i have try this little synth , everything is simple to build your sound.
this is not the same kind of sound of zebra , diva... it's something else. it is a very good deal for $19 !
Fabfilter one is more expensive but more restrictive in sound possibility...

Maybe more included patches will sweeten the deal?
This just in from KiloHearts:
Which brings the total included factory patches to 500+
This just in from KiloHearts:
All in all, about 200 extra patchessome time ago, the Reasonistas community rallied around kHs ONE making a bunch of presets. We have now included these with the VST/AU/AAX version of kHs ONE, available under the Reasonistas 01-03 banks.

Well, the good news is that not everybody does EDM so who gives a sh!t? With unison, supersaw is unnecessary/redundant and this synth sounds frickin' great.fluffy_little_something wrote:But despite its modern look, it is a rather old-skool synth in my view. No supersaw and such modern EDM stuff, right?
Condescending much? I can see myself using this a lot more than something like DUNE 2, simply because it sounds great, has a lot of built-in flexibility and is super easy to program. In fact, in the last two hours I've done more with kHs One than I've done with DUNE 2 in the last two years. You can't put a price on inspiration. (I paid a lot more for this than I paid for DUNE.)plexuss wrote:but there are many people who don't have the money for more expensive synths. this one may give them something if they dont have other options. we all have different needs and uses.
What's that got to do with anything? kHs One has three oscillators and is far from basic. In fact, it's got tons of features and they are all readily accessible, self-explanatory and really easy to use.ghettosynth wrote:There are a LOT of free basic two vco VA synths.
It's harsh, it's loud and really in your face. It's got more mid-range balls than anything I've heard in a while.ghettosynth wrote:Ok, let me turn this around. What is interesting about the sound to you?
Are you kidding me? Bitwig's Polysynth is one of, if not the worst sounding softsynth I have ever come across. It's basically unusable and a big part of the reason I stopped using Bitwig. OTOH, this thing sounds great.bite_me wrote:Sounds a little boring like Bitwigs Polysynth. Not really fat. I like Kilohearts ladder filter!
Exactly! It's feckin' awesome!chk071 wrote:This sounds a bit harsh, cold, and digital. At least that's my impression from demoing it briefly.

I only bought kHs One this week and, unlike I lot of idiots around here, I don't like to make pronouncements on things I know nothing about.AnX wrote:Took you 2 years to answer those posts?
Something I discovered today, though, is that One had both osc sync controls and noise added long before this thread was started, despite the fact that several people were complaining that it didn't. And that's what struck me about this thread - the level of ignorance displayed by people more than willing to argue the point over it's usefulness based on nothing more than a really bad YouTube video. No wonder it's so hard to get useful information out of this place.

How is that even possible when FabFilter is completely incapable of making any sound on it's own? It's a garbage in, garbage out proposition so you can only compare it to the filters in One, not the whole thing.

Khs One is a very good synth. It's not Avenger or MPowersynth or anything like that.. But it's fast to work with, and basic bread n butter stuff is a joy to make.
If someone can't get a good sound out of it, that person should consider sticking with presets or getting another hobby.

Really? FabFilter One does a good Headhunter bass that's tough to match on kHs but I can only guess you don't like your synths to be all that bright - the core waveforms are pretty dark compared to kHs and the filter on the FabFilter has less range, though it's maybe a bit more Moogy. The kHs delivers a pretty solid thud with the Q turned right up.ATS wrote:the fab filter sounds about 10x better to me

I don't understand why you can't get your head around DUNE 2. It can be just as fast and simple to program as KHS One if you just use a single layer. But DUNE 2 is an order of magnitude more flexible than KHS One. You don't have to use DUNE 2's wavetables or arp/seq or multiple FX lanes or voice unison or osc unison or....etc. You can simply have a single saw wave through a filter and be done with it. D2 can be as simple as you want. I don't know why you can't understand that.BONES wrote: I can see myself using this a lot more than something like DUNE 2, simply because it sounds great, has a lot of built-in flexibility and is super easy to program. You've been raving about Rich's filters for years so I know you're not going to tell me that suddenly they are inferior.
I owned KHS One for a while, got some nice sounds out of it but got bored with it's limited architecture rather quickly and sold it on. On the other hand I've done hundreds of patches for DUNE 2 and have not come close to getting bored with it.

Because of the Easter sale? 19 euros is a more appropriate price than the regular 99.BONES wrote:I only bought kHs One this week and, unlike I lot of idiots around here, I don't like to make pronouncements on things I know nothing about.
Have they ever updated it? I get the impression it is basically abandonware.
