Huge plus, it loads both 32&64 bit VST's internally.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

You should stop using 32 Bit plugin's, they will cause many problems, if not now, but in the future. I'm finding a few rogue 32 bit plugins in my 64 Bit directory causing problems with the scanning in Sonar, that really shouldn't be there. It wasn't a problem in Studio One's scanning, because it only recognises 64 Bit plugins.Zexila wrote:Huge plus, it loads both 32&64 bit VST's internally.

When they start causing problems, I will stop, until than, Pocket Limiter and the rest of the gang is here to stay.THE INTRANCER wrote:You should stop using 32 Bit plugin's, they will cause many problems, if not now, but in the future. If you have a problem opening a project due to a plugin, you can open in 'safe' mode by holding down 'shift' key when opening the project. You will then be prompted for each plugin to be allowed or not.Zexila wrote:When they start causing problems, I will stop, until than, Pocket Limiter and the rest of the gang is here to stay.THE INTRANCER wrote:You should stop using 32 Bit plugin's, they will cause many problems, if not now, but in the future. Thank you I did find them in my default Windows downloads folder (which I never use and thus never thought to check).robotmonkey wrote:Installers should be in your Downloads folder what you have set in Windows. What I did was, was to let the Bandlab crap download and start the installation but when the UAC prompt popped up asking weather I would allow installation, I clicked cancel for both main installer and the instrument installer. After that you can run the installers manually.VitaminD wrote:Where does it house these installers? I did the 'full' download and see no Studio Instruments nor do I see the Cakewalk Effects (outside of the Sonitus plugs and Boost11) in the plugins list under 'Cakewalk' in Sonarrobotmonkey wrote:It also downloads the Cakewalk Studio Instruments installer.satYatunes wrote:Anyone know what is included in the content version i.e. the first option when one launch the installer?
There should be two files in your downloads: Cakewalk.exe and Instruments.exe
The instruments.exe says it is corrupted. So I deleted it expecting the bandlab assistant app to let me redownload it. nope.. haha oh well. I think I can just uninstall Cakewalk entirely and redownload it that way.
Thanks again for helping me!
Update: Yep uninstalled everything through the bandlab assistant app and then reinstsalled through it, got the 2 installers. now I have the host and the separate instruments installer ran and installed. The strings pack sounds nice

Its quite janky and buggy. Crashed on me during a drag and drop operation. There are no built in demo songs and no built in sounds, apart from a few loops that you drag and drop from the Bandlab helper app. Every DAW should have at least a basic synth and a drum machine.
Anyone know where the manual is? Is there a built in audio editor? Are there built in metering tools and audio analysers? The Bandlab website is quite basic and doesn't list the complete feature set.

I smell Abandonware.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Bandlab is turning more people off with this freebie than they'll ever make new future customers.

Maybe it's because the way I work with DAW's has changed quite a bit. I do consider Ableton to have a very lean and decent interface. Studio One has definitely a good interface. FL Studio I like a lot even though it lacks certain professionalism in its GUI design. I even like DP quite a lot.fmr wrote:I see... The problem with Cakewalk and Cubase is that they have such a long legacy. They have obviously tried to modernize but they can't just throw their legacy overboard.

For me it's opposite, I find Ableton's interface extremely flat and boring going down since V8, especially after all those years of using it (since V4), it became boring and uninspiring to me. I like Bitwig's look way more - it's not skeuomorphism-istic, but perfectly 3D enough and modern at same time.robotmonkey wrote:Maybe it's because the way I work with DAW's has changed quite a bit. Cubase, IMO, since V6 everything looks way more polished and professional with perfect choice of colors, customization and skeuomorphism, which suddenly I miss nowadays where every single GUI on the planet tries to be "futuristic, modern and flat", it went too far, it feels like interface from early sci-fi TV shows.
Same story as Ableton, Logic Pro with version 10 (X) is step back, for my taste, in GUI department from V9 trying to be in sync with "millennial bug" of making everything "flat, cool and un-obstructive" (sacrificing workflow), although it's not as bad as Studio One V3.x
Studio One, since V3, is special story (in negative context) for me.
I just can't get over terrible flat GUI with lack of contrast and life in it. Choice of colors and tiny slim "generic" fonts which are the same all over GUI and not gradually defined transitions between main window elements of DAW are just dull. I have tried to customize its colors with limited built-in tools, but even with customization it needs lots more to look good and needs some dose of realism (like Logic) or different contrast approach (like Cubase) IMHO.
I love S1 workflow, but GUI since V3 makes it extremely boring, flat and unusable.
Hopefully V4 will fix this.
Sorry for slight OT

Don't agree, they might turn off ex-Sonar users, but they have more attention from me and possibly others than if they just continued selling this, DAW market is taught and Sonar was underdog, now it have chance to be best free DAW on the market and actually used by folks outside of their usual customer base, I would never touch it for 499 mark, ever, especially give it second chance with first impressions I got, but now I'm giving it chance and really hope I will warm up to it when I get to know it better.Proteinshake wrote:Bandlab is turning more people off with this freebie than they'll ever make new future customers.
Also, Apple didn't bought Camel Audio to sell their plugins, they gave it away in their DAW, Bandlab buying Cakewalk just to have freebie to give isn't weird at all, marketing is expensive, being owner of best free DAW is good marketing for a brand.

I had many years of experience working with Cakewalk as my DAW since the Pro Audio 9 days last century and I had a fully loaded CW account...
Sonar is a great program and I was a very satisfied X3e Pro user until Henry da Vandal and his rapidly diminishing Gibson Corporation took over the reins....
I knew at that moment, that there was real trouble ahead for Cakewalk...
So I started playing around with Reaper 4 and Studio One 3 Pro...
Studio One felt like a toy and Reaper was a little confusing, but my deep disrespect for Henry da Vandal keep me plugging away...
In the meantime,Reaper 5 was released with huge improvements in efficiencies and workflow...
I use Reaper as my main DAW now,but I hope that everyone who is scooping up the free offering is going to put Cakewalk to good use and get some positive results out of it because it is also a very good DAW
