Personally to me best limiter no doubt is Loudmax - amazing free tool i use for years along with cubase dynamics as compressor still work wonderful as basic master chain.
If somebody have favorite free or paid limiter please share opinion.Thanks.

DMG Audio TrackLimit is my go-to for single channels and FabFilter Pro-L 2 for the master.

Thankfully, masters are getting more dynamic. Don't sweat which limiter you use too much. All the limiter is good for is making sure you don't go over 0 dB these days - there's no need for it to be doing more than 2 to 3 db of gain reduction on peaks which should be very transparent on almost any limiter. A soft clipper is less damaging to this process so that's what I choose most of the time.

Get a limiter that does a GREAT job at keeping peaks from leaking through if you're using it on the master. One that monitors LUFS can be handy as well, though not required. Pro-L2 or AOM Invisible come to mind for the brickwall limiting (Pro-L2 has LUFS monitoring now), but there's a zillion others.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to try out Limiter No6 but I am very impressed.

On Windows I really dig Pocket Limiter.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Glad this is true. :D I usually just stick the stock Live limiter on my master bus while I'm working to keep anything from peaking and blowing out my ears. It's pretty good for taming those peaks.

This is subjective, depending on personal preferences and tastes, even the genre you may be mixing in.

Personally I have the IK Stealth and Brickwall Limiters, Brainworx bx_limiter, Waves L1 & L3-16, which I rarely use, even Logic's own Limiter and Adaptive Limiter.

Between these I usually have my basis covered.

The Stealth Limiter, for example, is quite transparent, in this instance I would tend to use it say on jazz, or acoustic material where I really don't want a limiter adding any "attitude". The L1 and bx_limiter with the saturation turned on tends to be more aggressive, so in this case I might try it on rock or old school R&B.

Don't let these wannabe sales people try to sell you on their opinions. The best Limiter is always the one that works for you. I suggest spending some quality time with each one until you are able to pick out the one that works for you and your material.

I've always loved Waves' L2.

I use mostly the DAW's Limiter/Maximizer, but in Reaper I use TB Barricade CM :)

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

+1, have tried this out since I last posted, and really like it. Very flexible without degrading the sound.

My favorite limiter is any multiband limiter, where you can control infinite compresson=limiting along with saturation and their ratio. Which compressor has which attack, and which type of saturation picks up what limiter couldn't. In short
