Hey guys,

Something a bit different for you :D

Across the grimy, smog-stained rooftops of the city, dodging between belching chimneypots and arcing Tesla coils, an evil genius in a clanking mechanical exoskeleton grimly pursues a dashing young woman whose only crime has been to dare to dream of becoming an aeronaut. Now, that dream will be crushed out of her in the dark, solitary confines of Newgate Gaol – unless, of course, she can reach her prototype gyrocopter in time…

Drawing its inspiration from alternative universes and alt-Victorian gothic excesses (with a bit of H G Wells thrown in for good measure), SteamPunk is a Frankenstinian mashup of barrel organ, steam machine and electrical synthesiser – the perfect instrument for serenading the night-ghouls of Paris as you drift safely above them in the gondola of your hot-air balloon. Or something like that. However you choose to use it, we think it sounds pretty cool

Three primary oscillators (based on reeded pipes, steam pipes and anbaric waves), plus noise and sub, secondary tuneable / detuneable oscillators, and a whole pane of Mechanism noises including bellows, attack chiffs, creaks and various kinds of instability, all add up to a strange and wonderful wormhole-universe version of a classic synthesiser. You can hear it in action and grab the usual launch discount here: https://www.rhythmicrobot.com/product/s ... instrument

We've also got a FLASH SALE going on, encompassing a handful of our other steampunk-inspired, alternative-universe instruments: you can find out more and see the discounts on our Hot Deals Pagehttps://www.rhythmicrobot.com/hot-deals

Have fun!

Cool. Subtractive synths made from organic sources are something I've found myself using a lot. Giving one a steampunk GUI and theme is very logical.

Thanks – glad it's hitting the mark for you! Using acoustic / organic sources as oscillators is a favourite of ours; Crank (which is built from Hurdy-Gurdy soundsources, but in a synth framework) is another fun example: https://www.rhythmicrobot.com/product/crank. Or for "electronic organic", my top pick would be Shortwave (https://www.rhythmicrobot.com/product/shortwave). Both are on sale at the moment

Best wishes,

Excellent product Guy, and I particularly like how STEAMPUNK can sound like the Beatles etc when they were doing some of their Sgt. Pepper atmospheric fairground sort of stuff :D

Ooh, nice thought. For some reason I hadn't put that together, but you're right, there's that steam calliope vibe going on. Now all we need are some Mellotron flutes and we're set :-D
