.. are you implying that FabFilter has an awful copy protection mechanism? Have you actually checked what they are using (hint: it's the least intrucive ever)? Or were you just too busy being anti-establishement so you decided to lob it all into the "big" companies (another hint: FabFilter consists of two guys. Two. Huge company right there).nichttuntun wrote: Do I need another EQ? Nope. FabFilter Pro-Q or Melda MAutoDynamicEq ?

Another vote for Tonebooster's brand new EQ4. Does all static and dynamic EQing, even with side chains, and does not break the bankel-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: I was assuming that the dynamic functionality could be turned off so that it could work like a normal eq, in the same way that Toneboosters' 'e.q.4' can.
Thanks

Two guys cannot be named big company. Two guys can make big products. Can I simply download their proEQ having a serial and simply install it on every computer I like Offline without further online validation? That would be in fact not awful.bmanic wrote:.. are you implying that FabFilter has an awful copy protection mechanism? Yes. It's a very long serial number that you just copy from the purchase email and paste into the box in the plugin.nichttuntun wrote:Can I simply download their proEQ having a serial and simply install it on every computer I like Offline without further online validation? No online confirmation? Two guys company?
Okay. I am re-considering. Thank you for the information.
But DO I really need another EQ?

HI nichttuntun, nichttuntun wrote:Hi. Thank you for the profound insights and the hint with the Melda Forum. Melda tools have so much under the hood one cannot know every hidden trick. Now I am curious about to know what task you wanted to do![]()
I wanted to dynamically attenuate a high frequency ranged keyed by a range of low frequencies from the same input, without using external side chains. It was easy to do once Melda pointed me in the right direction. I was really happy that I could have multiple filters (eqs) running based on whatever frequency range I wanted, typically the same frequency range as the filter, but in this case, I wanted one band to operate on another band.
I learned on analog equipment so I typically like a gui that I'm familiar with, that looks like the same controls as hardware. But I've been a fan of electronic music for many years and even enjoyed building sounds with digidesign turbosynth back in the Atari ST days of the 80s so I can appreciate a different interface if it is going to give me some really nice tools. Melda does that. I was originally turned off by their mturbocomp because of the interface, but I got some really great sound out of the demo. It just took me longer than I would like to get that sound. Great stuff for sound design and I'll eventually pick up mturbocomp because it has some great curves and saturation.

Unfortunately Pro-Q is only the best static EQ imo since it doesn't have a dynamics section in it. But who knows, one day they'll do the best dynamic EQ too
There are many dynamic eqs I prefer way over the melda ones. My favourites are FIX by Toneboosters (high quality, easy to use), Brainworx DynEQ, Nova by TDR and GlissEQ by Voxengo.

Thank you very much. Sounds like a good trick to screw some fancy effect stuff.DrReacto wrote:HI nichttuntun, nichttuntun wrote:Hi. If I do understand it right it could have been achieved relatively easy because in all Melda tools you can modulate every parameter within one modulator by every other parameter within the tool. They're Melda plugs (MpowerSynth e.g.)where you even can re-open the same tool within the tool. Crazy stuff going on here. Cheers.

IIRC EQ4 only support external sidechain for VST3 version, so if you want to use VST2 then it's not an option.

Is there any good way to measure the latency within a DAW? I use CUBASE.

Don't know that but in reaper each track has a fx window which shows the current vst's latency and also the whole tracks output latencynichttuntun wrote:Is there any good way to measure the latency within a DAW? I use CUBASE.

So the melda one doesn't even do lookahead? Hmm...Trancit wrote:+ it adds latency (if this hasn´t already changed), which the Melda one doesn´t...
EQ4 is great, very handy and its AI assist approach is very interesting. It worked quite well (I didn't expect something like izoptopes neutrons track assistent). For its price EQ4 is a no brainer.
