Well, I've read through the majority of this (which was about what I expected to see... "I hate SONAR"... "I love SONAR"...), but still didn't learn what I wanted to learn, which was: I'm using Sonar Artist version 23.8.0... is this an upgrade from there?

I think that was established pretty well. Cakewal by BL has a feature set of Sonar Platinum sans any of the third-party plugins. So yes, it's an upgrade.

You could have saved some time by downloading the product and simply compare it. Or check online SONAR Platinum feature list and compare it.

Anyway, since it is the high-end version, it's pretty obvious.

You will get ProChannel. That's an upgrade. :tu:

Here's a tip. Leave your Artist installed and install Cakewalk by BandLab. You can have both installed, and that way Cakewalk can scan and include any content that may have been in Artist, but not in the new version.

Is it just my setup, or is the audio engine on this daw a bit flakey ?

I have messed around with my asio settings, but just a little clipping produces crackles.

Dont forget quite a few of the Boz plugins are also available as Pro Channel plugins, new Cakewalk users probably arent aware

Quick question for Cakewalk guru's, can we do this in Cakewalk?

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

I think I missed where you explained your stake in Bandlab/Cakewalk.
Repeat?

Isn't that the typical forum response to questions like that? Doh! Just saving him some time!

Cool feature, what DAW is that?

I actually didn't think splitting a clip to notes like that was possible in Sonar Platinum/Cakewalk, but it is doable using one of the so called "CAL scripts" that comes out of the box:

1. Select the clip
2. Hit CTRL+F1 (or go to menu Process / Run CAL)
3. Select Split Note to Tracks.cal - it asks a few questions about destination track, but you can usually just click OK

It's not as elegant, but it works. I learned something new myself. :)

Awesome. 8)

I got more, would really appreciate it.

Is ti possible in Cakewalk to multi-slice a clip, for example if I multi-slice first 1/16th note of a clip, it will get sliced every 1/16th note. (not the best video, but you got the picture)

Ha ha, I almost thought that was Studio One 4.0

In response to my issue with DX plugin's, no joy...uninstalled - reinstalled CbB, reset VST paths, rescanning multiple times... nothing from Sonitus shows up in the Audio Tab Effect like that guy showed in the video...I've given up...but they are probably not that important when one has hundreds of other plugins to choose from in any case...
