I'll check but don't think so, just the basic Waveform. Thanks.jabe wrote:Have you got any unregistered plug-ins? Even though I've registered it (says so on the splash screen) I'm getting a near continuous stream of noise swells, like demo'ing a particularly crap selection of ocean samples. Kind of impossible to demo so guessing it shouldn't be doing this?
Also, any one have issues with the main level slider? Pops up a slider when I click on it but then either doesn't move or else look scorrupted/flickery?

I recall that last year the Waveform 8 bundle download that contained Collective, also included the Biotek and DAW Essentials demos. Check to see if you have those installed.

It is probably best to let this thread RIP, as it has been quiet for over a month.
But since you stirred it up, I will add that I have no major problems with W9, and consider it an improvement over W8. The multi-sampler and chord track were probably worth the price of admission.
Version 9.1.1 is the latest release.

I'm still using Waveform 9 daily and its slowly on its way to becoming my favorite DAW to work with. One thing folks don't seem to be talking about as much as they should is how good it is with CPU usage. Plugins and instruments that normally bring some of my other DAWs to their knees run very well in Waveform V9.
The GUI is beautiful as many others have mentioned and the project page rocks. Being able to audition projects from that window before you open them is a Godsend for someone like me who has a million unfinished ideas. The composing tools as first for me weren't used much but having spent some more time learning how they work, I can say they are extremely useful if your looking for inspiration or ideas. I actually just started messing with the "faceplates" function for plugins and I really think this could become an awesome thing if Waveform users could make cool plates to share or trade.
In general Waveform 9 feels like a modern, forward thinking, well thought out piece of software. Even for those who tried Tracktion back in the day and didn't feel it, Id suggest you give this DAW the attention it deserves.

Check out the Tracktion forum over here at KVR . Maybe start a "What's Waveform9 have or doesn't have" thread over there .DrGonzo wrote:To everybody that jumped on the Waveform 9 train - how do you feel about it now?

As with any commercial software product that releases a new major version every year, Waveform 8 eventually reached a point of maturity when further development and maintenance of it ceased. Bug fixes and enhancements to Waveform 8 now require an upgrade purchase to Waveform 9. Tracktion is a small company with a limited number of development resources; development on Waveform 8 was probably frozen at some stable state so that the development team could focus its full attention on Waveform 9. Now that Waveform 9 has been released, I would suspect that its feature set is frozen; some of the DAW developers will probably continue to fix bugs on Waveform 9 while the rest of them will have begun work on what will eventually become Waveform 10.inkwarp wrote:So, what's with the jump to 9? surely 8 has only just appeared (relatively speaking), so what's with this version?

Plus, as far as we know, there are only two Waveform devs. Calling it a small company is an understatement. Hard to believe all that these guys have accomplished!tonedef71 wrote:As with any commercial software product that releases a new major version every year, Waveform 8 eventually reached a point of maturity when further development and maintenance of it ceased. Wow! Two DAW developers is quite a bit smaller than I had envisioned for the amount of Tracktion development resources. Kudos to them indeed.zzz00m wrote:Plus, as far as we know, there are only two Waveform devs. Calling it a small company is an understatement. Hard to believe all that these guys have accomplished!

after all whole version numbers usually represent major additions and changes. so bugfixes etc. are usually fractional. i wish the developers all the best. it's a good product for a small outfit.

I was merely trying to share my thoughts on the emergence of Waveform 9 so soon after Waveform 8; I am sorry if it came across as pontificating or lecturing.inkwarp wrote:dude, i was not criticizing, i was simply curious.

I actually have not purchased the upgrade from Waveform 8 to Waveform 9. I feel that Waveform 9 is what Waveform 8 should have been; as an early adopter of Waveform 8, I found it unusable for quite some time before it stabilized. This time around, I will wait for the next big sale on Waveform upgrades (the cost of the upgrade has risen considerably since Tracktion 5/6/7). I might even skip Waveform 9 altogether if Waveform 10 looks to be that much more of a superior product (and then I will probably hold-off on W10 until it goes on sale or skip it in favor of W11, etc. ad nauseum).
Although the Tracktion DAW is excellent, I have found that my interest in using other DAWs has waned considerably since cross-upgrading to Studio One 3.
