I'm in the same situation (without the PhD);
but I read all these descriptions of doing things, that just pique my curiosity. It takes time to learn, no doubt, and sometimes I just want to jump in and make music.
But, I'll keep at it, maybe someday something will click.

Right on Gary. I fully intend to acquire this beauty since I do see it is a fabulous design. The problem lies in my lack of being able to match th eslope of this steep learning curve.

Gordon

PS Gary stay safe OK!

If you are stumped I highly reccomend checking out the tutorials by NicFit at http://www.xt-geek.com/

Also NicFit has made some great Flash tutorials that are a bit more advanced and are available at http://xt-hq.com/nicfit/xt_tutorials.php

Hope that helps. :)

I voted "yes", meaning like Jazzfranco said here it won't totally replace other hosts NOW, but after coming from Massiva and with Nicfit's flashtuts and others I hope to use EnergyXT as only host in the future, or side by side with Orion Platinum. Some months ago I was in the situation to decide: buy a big one like Sonar or Cubase? And learn all of those, or what to do? Then EXT came :D , and I still have a lot to learn, but I don't think a friend who uses CubaseSX gets so much better with his host, so I still would use EXT if Cubase was 39Euro :D .

I think it is just as easy to do this in EXT once you have set up a template. All you have to do is set up EXT the way you want it to be each time you load it up and then right click, select file -> set as default. You can have your midi keyboard all set up and all you need to do is select a VSTi, record it and then render by either selecting in the sequencer, file -> render to wave or by right clicking on the master out and recording your project to a wave.
you can even double-click on your 'default'-file and then eXT opens with this default-setup. I put have a shortcut to my 'default'-file on the quicklaunch-bar so eXT is definitely quicker to start-up than Tracktion. :!:

edit: Of course you can double-click on other eXT-files as well and you can chose different-icons for them so you can start eXT with as many different setups as you wish to with a simple double-click and you can all distinguish them visually :D

Nice tip :) - I’ll add it to the next Commands Guide

Of course, to do this you will need to associate the .ext file type with the energyXT program (eg using Tools >> Folder Options >> File Types, in Windows Explorer.

They do help. I really need to spend proper time going through them, though. It is slow going. I read the arp tutorial and was lost immediately. I will need several hours to just fathom that one. Time that I don't have right now.

Later this year though.

Gordon

Yeah yeah. Well you are Normal and I am a tired old fart with too little sleep.

Maybe I should try at the Cubase SX demo again and get really pissed off. That always gets my adrenaline flowing.

Hey it actually works - Cubase SX vs 1.2 - that is - XT challenged still. Hey and I like it! OH No! OK if I don't like Sonar 4 hello SX! :-o :-o

Post

Hey! I gotta beard & I can use it ok!

well..maybe it's really a moldy growth, but you know what I mean..

Post

Yes but do you have a Ph.D.? I think it destroyed my equinamity- really I do.

I probably will get the arp thing into my head when I have a few hours of patience handy. It sure sounds useful.

Gordon
