[I think it is in exporting psd from Photoshop with an embedded raw image layer, adjusting the raw file in Affinity then reopening in photoshop to find the raw layer is now just an image layer ie you can't continue editing the raw file]
Embedded RAW photos? You're right, Affinity Photo doesn't know how to extract the embedded RAW data and repack it when it exports since PSD is proprietary (and a clusterfuck Adobe can't figure out sometimes). It does have the demosaiced layer from Photoshop and returns it, but it's missing the embedded RAW. If the workflow requires RAW images back then I request that they be linked, and I don't need the RAW file since Photoshop demosaiced it into a representative layer from Camera Raw.
Interesting and not something I have done or even thought of - sounds more advanced than my skills allow

..... okay I have read up on it and think I have a basic understanding. Thanks for your response

For me having up to three years is more than enough. I’ve found in the last two years most vendors have lastest MacOS support within 60-120 days after release. Four months isn’t much time to wait. That being said if you have a stable known configuration you should be reasonably good for two years between upgrades.

Hardware on the Mac side is much longer. I recently retired my 2009 MacBook Pro in January. It still ran El Capitan natively. The 10.4 release of Logic was compelling enough for me to move on and get a newer Laptop.

That’s just me.

And Apple users think all that is good. LOL
I don't think this is good, either. I have limited experience with PCs, having been 'branded' by Apple when I was working in a lab at university in the late 80's. IIRC, they used to give schools and colleges great deals on their hardware for exactly that reason. Worked with me. I've never owned a PC.

I, too, have become increasingly disenchanted with Apple's current business model. This computer, a late 2015 27" iMac, came stock with El Cap, and it worked a treat. When Logic 10.4 arrived, I was forced to choose between foregoing the new features that would be very useful to me (instrument articulation set-up made easy, and the new tempo functions) or upgrading my OS. I hemmed and hawed, and wasn't going to do it if I had to go to High Sierra. Luckily, someone at LPHelp posted a link on how to get Sierra, which I installed. A 'mature' OS, I have had relatively minor issues with it, such as my BT mouse needing a right-click to show on the desktop on occasion, and it boots about 2 seconds more slowly than with El Cap, but so far so good. I truly don't understand the logic for requiring an OS upgrade to get the new features. I am going to have to think long and hard about what to do when 10.5 comes out, and it will depend on what new features it offers. If I need to go to High Sierra, I will likely pass on it. I paid, what is for us, an exhorbitant amount for this iMac. I intend its use to go past the 3 year threshold, and it had better. If it doesn't I may, MAY, make another choice, because we don't have €3,300 hanging around for a new computer right now, and we never buy anything on credit.
So, no, Apple's M.O. doesn't make me happy. At all. I never thought I'd have to be wary about what they are doing, but I've slowly caught on.

This is good to know. RAW images are very important to my workflow and I've been following Affinity development for some time. I found the iOS version to be horribly buggy and then they stopped updating it, probably because I haven't updated to iOS 11 (which is relevant to this thread). Numerous apps on my iPad have stopped getting updates because of iOS 11 being required.

I was alerted to an iOS update issue by a friend who is a retired sysadmin - he told me a few updates ago how the latest update was stuffing up his iPad. I was having no problems, but the next update did slow down my ipad and from there things have only gotten worse. Same with phone. Has certainly made me reluctant to buy another IOS product.

Its done the same to my wife and step sons ipads and iphones, battery life is near halfed after the update, and they are visibly less responsive.

Apple are awful imo, never have and never will use an apple product again. (Even owned an iPod once, and that crapped out too)
