ArcSyn is an amazing three oscillator synth with a big range of unusual filters, sound sources, routing possibilities and a 16-step LFO sequencer. A KvR thread a while back "What's your favorite synth to program" made me reflect for a while on how much fun it was to really delve into the guts of this great machine.
It's easy to get ArcSyn to growl and screech, but with gentle coaxing it can produce really organic sounds with subtle shifts and flavors. There's real beauty here as well as the hard edge. Then add the LFO sequencer into the mix.
So here is my first commercial soundset: Sputnik. It's 100 sounds deeply programmed and all making full use of the modwheel. categories include Arps, keys, pads, SFX, bass, textures and a wide range of sync sounds, that is sounds all tempo-locked with the LFO sequencer which can take things way beyond what a simple arp can do.
It's called Sputnik since there's a space flavor to some of the sounds, but it really covers the full range from gently phase-shifting sine keys to horror movie-style textures.
The walkthrough below runs through all 100 sounds (with absolutely no external effects or processing). I tried to cut it down but still came out to about 50 minutes. If you haven't tried ArcSyn before have a random jump around the video for a taster. It's a truly unusual machine.
The Sputnik soundset is available either directly from the SPC Plugins site here for $20:

Or from my own site with an extra intro discount to April 26th:

I'm not an NKS user, can you humor me with a short explanation?

NKS is just a set of extensions that enable VST plugins to integrate into Native Instruments controllers (their keyboards and Maschine) with the ability to browse their presets and control params via the hardware. All presets converted contain built in controller mappings and meta information to enable them to be organised and searchable within a tag based database.

The integration is done for Arcsyn - see here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7#p7071717
but there is the matter of converting all presets available too - easily done for the factory ones but for third party ones I've obviously not wanted to share those publicly myself, but if you want to host them then others can benefit from having them accessible via the controllers.

Sounds good! Looking at the screengrab on the other thread I can see the tags and such - wish ArcSyn had that built in by default...
So would I just host the file publically or does it contain the actual presets? (In which case it should probably be bundled with the original download). In either case thanks for the conversion work

Yeah that's why I didn't post it - I think it's just like sharing the actual presets just in a different format, would be different I guess if it was sampled instruments but this isn't. So I'd bundle them to actual purchasers only or put them in a user area if you have one (HGS do this)Richard deHove wrote:Sounds good! Download file now updated to include a zipped folder of the nksf versions. Thanks Amused, very kind
Anyone who has already purchased the set and would like the nksf version should just contact me via PM here or via the website.
Feedback on the set has been really positive - am very gratefully for the kind words. Programming it felt strangely like programming Omnisphere because of the range of oscillators, filters and modulations. But the really unique part of ArcSyn is its crazy LFO sequencer. Be great to see some more sets showing what this weird synth can do.

Thankyou for doing that, hope it attracts more sales. Personally I know I am not the only one for whom NKS compatibility is now a factor in my purchases.
