Yeah, those people. Trying to help. Screw those suckers.
actually, no.
if you read carefully, you will see how it shifted from helping me, to defending zebra
If by "read carefully" you mean "interpret in the most negative way possible" then maybe. But the whole "fanboys this, fanboys that" gets a bit wearing after a while.

hehe ok it's getting creepy, im out

FTR, I think Z3ta+2 has a very fuzzy, and at times, dirty sound. If you want that, it's great. Zebra 2 has a more clean sound. I would say the fidelity of Zebra 2 is better. I have nothing but my ears (no meters or printouts or anything like that) to make my claim with. But that's how the two synths sound to me.

Z3ta+2's square wave is absolutely softer around the edges because the sound engine itself leads to a softer sound. But if I want to do a prog square wave lead, I'm turning to Zebra 2 before I turn to Z3ta+2, which for me just doesn't cut it.

YMMV.

Truth to be told, the fanboyism level sometimes goes over the top here, especially in case of U-He and Synapse stuff. I don't mean this specific conversation or anyone of the posters in this thread, but in gereral.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Well, I'm not a fanboi of anybody. I have synths I like and synths I don't like. As for U-he stuff, I like some stuff better than others. Never been a big fan of Hive. And Podolski or whatever it's called, I think is dreadful sounding. I will never use it for anything.

Each synth I own gets judged on its own merit. So when I criticized Hive I got quite a reception from the fanbois. It was not fun.

But yeah, Zebra 2 versus Z3ta+2? Not even close. If I had to keep only one, no contest. Z3ta+2 goes in the trash. I hardly ever use it. But it does have a softer square wave, which _al_ apparently likes better than Zebra 2's. I can understand that if you're going for a softer sound.

Ahh, this is a crazy conversation...

yes, I think you've interpreted my posts in a bad light, I meant to help....after all, I made a new init square patch for you...my apologies if I've upset you. :)
@himalaya, ok, but why you accuse me of refusing to accept something? i'm totally lost there
I'm not accusing you, mine was a question, a bewilderment, considering that I have gone to some length to explain why the Zebra square is fine as it is. It is not 'clicky', nor anything else out of the ordinary, and yet you insist that there is something off about that wave which prevents you from making certain sounds. I was just curious why you think that. That's all.

So much controversy over one square wave, right? :D

Maybe, If I had put a nice smiley after each post you'd know I didn't mean anything bad in my posts. :)

At KVR we spell controversy KontroVeRsy.

And that explains everything.

So if anyone knows a better way of getting a smooth square wave bass, please feel free to tell me.

Also, don't forget to experiment with all the different filter types, as they can produce so many different flavours of the same sound. So, maybe it's the actual filters which need looking at?

This actually ties in nicely with the thread title, of 'rediscovering Zebra2', since Zebra has so many filters that it's easy to forget how important it is to choose the correct one in order to obtain the right result.

What sort of square bass are you actually after? Post some examples.

No this is really great thread and i never knew about patches website with osc presets so i learned something new.

But even to me as being outsider it kinda looks you people attacked him even though he never said anything wrong about zebra. It was even obvious he don't know that zebra is superior to zeta and he can get that shape but some of you just splitted hairs in order to get him feeling bad.

You may hide now behind lost in conversation thing but it kinda looks creepy indeed.

"You people attacked him..."

Oh, come on. Attacked? Read it again. They only, uh, rather aggressively helped him, offering suggestions that might clear up some possible confusion.
