I'm not talking about raw waves - I mean the same settings on filters and envelopes across the two synths. I used the simplest waves just to minimise the number of possible variables and to see whether the filters had changed. I wasn't expecting them to have changed given that Go2 is designed just to have a simpler synth UI but wanted to check. I found that I'm happy to stick with the "horribly bad" Predator 2 and save 50 bucks.DJErmac wrote:I don't care about a raw saw wave or a square wave that have no parameter applied and show no behavior, what I'm talking about is the sounds I can use and play with, what I'm given and what Rob Papen is showing me using the full potential of the synth. When I browse the presets from Predator, they give me the feeling I'm hearing sounds from 1998. When I browse the presets of Go2, I feel they're from today.Gamma-UT wrote:Tried back-to-back against P2 with the same settings on basic saw and square waves and the results were identical.DJErmac wrote:What happened between the horribly bad and 15 years too late-sounding Predator serie and this one ?
Placebo is a helluva drug.

Sorry, language barrier, after I read again I understood that part and edited.
Anyway, there's absolutely no placebo in saying when you get Predator 2 you get static muffled retro sounds bundled with it, when you get fresh sounding crystal clear sounds with Go2.

Not in a hurry to buy this on VST, but they say it'll come out on Rack Extension which I'm definitely interested in (tabs be damned in Reason rack UI)

Same for me.Cinebient wrote: However, i wish Rob good luck with it. I like this guy!
This synth doesn't do anything for me though. Filters sound bog standard 2007. Sorry to say, but, especially filters have come a long way in the last 10 years, and i really can't hear that here.

Played around with it, created decent percussion with the modulation system. Made a couple patches, on the cold side. I tried adding some warmth with the LFO and distortion but it seems unapologetically digital. There are a lot of unique features at this price point, and it's extremely capable of a wide palette of sounds. I'm just inundated with synths and don't have mind space for another one right now. I'm going to have to revisit this and see if I can coax some warmth out of it.
Anyway, what I ended up with after putzing around with it (all Go2, no fx):

Althought not as warm as say Diva etc, I think it has a full sound verging on warm. Coupled with the really slick digital sounds you captured, makes me feel like Go2 is a pretty versatile synth! The way I looked at it was I was getting a cool 600 sound, soundbank for $41 - and a full synth to boot!

I had a good time programming some of the included presets. Go2 appears simplistic on the surface but spend some time with it and you can get deeper.

Ok, back to the synth, this time really.
I've noticed that there are pops and clicks in many presets.
In bank "20 Oddiction 01", from preset number 35 upwards.
It's just my environment (win10 64bit, Reaper) or someone else also can reproduce this?
Icould create a support ticket at robpapen, but i wanna know if else has this problem too....

Sounds great and you showed its expressive capabilities, which goes a long way toward warming it up. It's definitely versatile. I gave it another go and made some warmer patches, using the copious modulation to induce more instability. The modulation is deep, it reminds me of ACE in that if you're not using a particular module for its intended purpose, you can still use it, such as the OSC Smod, which is useful as another LFO. Still can't get over this XY pad, it's nuts.plexuss wrote:[Fun track. Nice sounds. Did you hear my demo of Go2 here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=503889&start=15#p7065519

One modulation target that seems to be missing... the Wave A&B X- and Y- Morph. It's conspicuous considering everything else is a target.
Absolutely packed full of features, great bang-for-the-buck.

it's nice, been playing with the demo. worth it at this price, easily. altho... if i hear one more wobble bass, i may have to hurt a tree (or something).

Watched RPs presentation. No, nothing stands out for me. Rather seems behind its time. No drag+drop modulation. A tiny mod matrix. Menus everywhere. Not interesting. And I don't like the Synthmaster like Gui.
No. no. no. But options are good, maybe there is an audience left for him...
