Coming towards the end of a 30 day demo of Audition 1.5 and absolutely love it... will almost certainly buy!

But a strange thing has started happening...

When I left click the mouse on a track (in multitrack view) or on a mixer fader, the cursor jumps to the bottom of the screen. Often it either moves the clip to amother track entirely, or in the case of a fader, zeroes it.

I have no idea why this has started happening, but this weird mouse behaviour ONLY happens in Audition (i.e. mouse behaves itself in all other applications).

Have I inadvertently caused this and can anyone suggest a way of stopping this annoying mouse behaviour please :?: :help: :!:

Is it anything to do with the new mouse control, see if altering the tools setting helps.

This box first shows (new feature in 1.5) untill you click the box – I left it on to remind me

Thant's not cured it, unfortunately. :(

Having said that, I'm not at all sure what toggling between the three new tools actually does do - it seems to do nothing that I can tell (but I will have to go deeper into the help manual when I buy a copy).

Perhaps that feature is working properly - or has somehow become corrupted - on the demo version.

Any more suggestions from anyuone?

(By the way, i'm running under Windows XP, but as I said I only get problems in Audition, and only started a few days ago.)

Thanks again!

Okay, so now I have worked out what the mouse tools you refered me to are all about...

...but unfortunately they don't hold the key to solving my jumping mouse problem.

Also I did a virus check, but it found nothing.

Any more advice anyone?

By the way, notwithstanding this problem, I think that Audition is absolutely brilliant. I've come from Cubase SX, Tracktion, Live 2 and Reason... but I've never managed to produce such transparent audio recordings in any other software. I assume it is the quality of the FX, but perhaps also the way the programme is optimised as a professional audio application. Just great!

I've just upgraded from cool edit pro and I love it . VST support yaaay ! at last !
The only thing is the colour scheme , ok I know you can change it but I still find them a bit weird .

sorry but no mouse jumping problems here , I 've haven't heard anything like this since there were weird viruses going around which caused this problem ,but I thought they were a thing of the past (WIN95/98 ) for sure
Is it definately only happening in A.A ?

Have you tried a different mouse ? maybe an old one you got lying around ?

Ive seen weird mouse problems on a system caused by the machine deciding the mouse was actually a pen device (!!!)

You could check the Device Manager and ensure there's only one mouse-type device installed. If there's more than one, disable the one that isnt your mouse...

Thanks guys...

Okay -

1. Yes it only happens in Audition (so far as I can tell - lots of software on my system, but I know for sure the mouse is fine in Reason, Tracktion, MS Office, Quark Xpress, Internet, etc)

2. I'm laptop based and have two "pointing" devices - the Touchpad and a USB mouse. The problem is common to both.

3. I will check out your advice in system properties and see if I can make any changes, e.g. disabling either touchpad or mouse and seeing if this solves it 8)

Failing that, when I buy the full version(not if, because I don't blame Audition at all for this!)I imagine that a clean install will solve any system configuration problems that are specific to my Audition install.

Thanks again - and if anyone has any other ideas keep 'em coming.

Aha!

I've found that my jumping mouse cursor only happens when I have the track EQ window open. For a few days I had this docked - together with the mixer - in the lower half of the main multitrack window.

Well, now that I've undocked it, the problem has gone! So when I click on an audio or mixer track the mouse cursor stays just where I want it. (and I still have the mixer docked in the lower half of the window, just not the track EQ)

Reopen the track EQ and the problem returns!

I wonder whether this happens for those of you with the full programme up and running? If you have a moment and are interested, check it out - and let me know!

Thanks again for your earlier help!
