Anybody use Audiomodern Paths?

I am starting to stray more away from producing EDM (techno, tech house, deep tech house, ambient house) and go more towards composing for games and video.
This means shoring up big bucks to get sample libraries, but I'm always looking for a good deal.
Currently there is a sale on Audiomodern Paths 1 and 2 for $20 from Audio Plugin Deals.
The demos sound good, but the demos for Massive sounded good when I got Komplete 7, and yet I ended up hating it and only using for a few select things.
So anyone have any experience with either of the Paths? Are they even worth the $20?

Everything by AudioModern is great. I have their entire catalog and use it often.

Paths is certainly interesting. Not quite what I expected (I didn't demo or anything just purchased) but as I really liked Atom and the price was right. Definitely worth it during the deal!

Can you be more specific? If we don't know what you don't like about Massive then we can't determine if you're going to dislike Paths too, since you like both their demos.

Dont know if thats important for you but what keeps me away from path and this (otherwise great deal cause it really sounds nice) is the fact that you cant "play" it as a "normal" kontakt instrument, its just loops, so if you want to adjust it to an existing chord progression/track/song you have to make a key switch for evry chord change, just not my workflow.

The Massive sound is cold, digital and (sometimes) harsh.yellowmix wrote:Can you be more specific? If we don't know what you don't like about Massive then we can't determine if you're going to dislike Paths too, since you like both their demos.
Another thing I didn't like was the overhyped-ness of it. I got Komplete 7 right when I was starting out. The "everyone uses this, its amazing" thing was great in theory, until I used Massive and didn't like it. I've now learned to not listen to that kind of drivel, and make my own decisions.

Okay. Well, you probably won't like Paths then. The sale is a form of hype, everyone saying it's a deal is adding to the hype, I don't know what $20 is to you, and it's basically a bunch of loops wrapped up in a Kontakt interface. So if you've listened to demos, that's exactly what you get.
I passed on it. If it were straight-up WAV files it'd be more useful to chop up and manipulate but still... it's loops I can make myself and it wouldn't save me much time either. I've got beds and drones and arps in my synths with a lot more control. Maybe you like something like this and/or it'd be a good, fast shortcut to whatever results you want? I don't know your life.
re: Massive, it brought a legit watershed moment in virtual synths with a now-commonplace modulation system, it's got a wide palette and unique sound, and a huge third-party ecosystem, and is now relatively inexpensive. But I feel you on the sound, since that's the majority of stuff available for it. But it's possible to get warmth out of it—check out Arte Nuovo's Massive Heaven, NI's Amplified Funk Massive presets, and The Unfinished's Snarling for scoring stuff you'll probably like. No sense putting Massive in the dustbin with all these resources around.

Maybe that was the old version, because it says its formatted for everything, even WAV.yellowmix wrote:Okay. Well, you probably won't like Paths then. Welp, I said it'd be more useful than a locked-up Kontakt but I'm still passing on it for the reasons I already explained. If it works for you, then great. But if you just wanted encouragement to buy it, you are its own hype. Buy it or don't; again, I don't know your life, but you're putting a lot of effort into $20.

I bought it. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, as I'm not installing anything new in my current computer. I've got a new computer, but I need to clean and rearrange my desk before I do that, and have enough money to be able to get Logic Pro X.
