look how we misuse the tech we already have, could you live with it on your conscience if your new technology is used for nefarious purposes?
science be damned! this is human lives were talking about! 7 billion, gone, in an instant.
all because you just had to release a portable synth on to a world that couldn't handle the responsibility.
what have you done? goddammit! what have you doooooooone!
Get ready for a paradigm shift from a leader in analog modeling technology

Given that annoying phrase "all analog signal path", I'd be that I'm right and it's a DCO based synth, although, the Ask Audio article specifically used the term VCO, so perhaps not.

Very clean design! I was hoping for an SD card slot with SampleTank/Miroslav etc samples (!!)

Short version of this thread:
Company: Marketing blurb.
KVR: Hah, look how smart we are! We looked through you!
Thread locked.
Repeat.
Shame though that noone understands that you have to make marketing blurb to make people buy, because first world consumers are so wealth depraved that a ordinary product is not good enough for them, but they need "the next big thing", "the game changer", or "the product which rules them all". There's nothing smart in telling a salesman that his marketing slogans aren't true. In fact, it is pretty stupid, because you will never be able to run a business telling people the stuff you sell is just ordinary. The trick is to take it for what it is. But, i doubt that more than 10% of the people posting in this thread are even interested in this, or any other IK products anyway. It's about showing off the smart internet dick.

There are loads of marketing blurbs that are flamboyant and extravagant and interesting and totally... marketing. Hah. The point is, they can be all of that without telling you specific untruths about the company, for example. In short, it's about ethics.chk071 wrote:There's nothing smart in telling a salesman that his marketing slogans aren't true. Your comment comes off as being a self descriptive, really, being exactly the sort of comment you are outlining in that quote. You are just choosing to be the smart internet dick with a bias favoring untruths in marketing blurbs

Talking about ethics, and ignoring the second paragraph of your post for now. Where are the ethics when dealing with Peter, who is a human being, like everyone else here? Frankly, what i see here, is a bunch of pretentious do-gooders, which aren't real do-gooders.Guenon wrote:In short, it's about ethics.
And, to actually address the second part of your post, and your usual behavior here, you seem to fit in quite perfectly.

Everyone is a human being. It's all down to how they reply when invited in a dialogue on something like this, like asking them why they are writing untruths. Peter replies in his style, and so people again reply to him based on that.chk071 wrote:Talking about ethics, and ignoring the second paragraph of your post. I'm a human being as well, yes, and you don't seem to have any ideachk071 wrote:And, to actually address the second part of your post, and your usual behavior here, you seem to fit in quite perfectly.

I find it incredibly depressing that a product teaser topic has to devolve into all this bickering back and forth between the company and their potential customers, and also between random individuals.

So what exactly was untrue here? That they're a leader in analog modelling technology? Hardly. Apart from that, i won't repeat what i wrote above. Noone will buy shit from you, when you don't sell it as the next big thing, the gamechanger, the one product to rule them all. That's how it sells, because that's what attracts people. If you want to criticize anything, then cricitize consumers which get attracted that way. But then, even that is pretty silly, because, as consumers, we are all responsible, and can decide ourselves whether we buy or not. No need for a pseudo do-gooder to tell what's right or what's wrong.Guenon wrote:Everyone is a human being. It's just absolutely ridiculous that every IK thread here gets trolled right from the start. And even more ridiculous that most of the people trolling wouldn't even be interested in the product, if it wasn't for the trolling.deastman wrote:I find it incredibly depressing that a product teaser topic has to devolve into all this bickering back and forth between the company and their potential customers, and also between random individuals.

I agree. Dishonest marketing is one of my pet peeves, and I made the topic go even more depressing by reacting to chk071's apologetics and "shame that no one understands" posturing there. I should just let stuff like that go and not respond. Not being sarcastic here, I mean that was stupid of me to do, and bickering like that only goes to hurt the topic and any actual discussion in the end. Sorry about that.deastman wrote:I find it incredibly depressing that a product teaser topic has to devolve into all this bickering back and forth between the company and their potential customers, and also between random individuals.
It said it was a paradigm shift "from the leader in analog modeling technology", until Ben himself edited it to be "a leader" because it was so blatantly unbacked hyperbole. When questioned on it, Peter said they stand behind being "the leader", that is, world's number one. But provided no metrics on which to go by. That was it, regarding the leader thing.deastman wrote:So what exactly was untrue here? That they're a leader in analog modelling technology? Hardly.

now that the game is over is this thread even relevant any longer? Seems to me it's time for a thread discussing it's merits in hardware
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
