Very cool, thanks! This conversation got me thinking about freeware solutions and sfzs seem the most universal option, short of someone developing a new sampler (though a free pro version of txw16 could have potential). Sforzando doesn't quite have the capabilities of most samplers, so I'm interested to see the automated sfz player you mentioned. I'll definitely take a look at the website, you and matthias (is sam, sam gossner? he's cool too, versilian ziiither!) are really appreciated. Thanks man!

dude, scoring central is legit... I haven't had time to code since focusing on music, however I'm gonna take a look at sfz scripting again and see whether I could contribute. It's really cool how people spend so much time helping the community. I'm inspired lol.
[edit] Ok, I've done enough research and have decided I'm gonna start coding some solo string instruments, a violin and a viola. The goal is to duplicate the functionality of the embertone viola I purchased. I'm gonna list all the required functionalities I could think of. Feel free to add anything I might of overlooked. Keep in mind I'm creating a solo instrument sample library, not a sampler.
Included functionalities -
velocity layers
round robins
key switched articulations
dynamics/volume control + attack speed control
vibrato crossfade control + vibrato speed/width control
legato + legato speed control
pitch bend up/down - possibly
multilayered samples - chords/harmony (poly)
poly/mono legato toggle
ensemble mode
That's what I could think of from referencing the embertone viola for kontakt. Also, I'll only mention this once since it isn't on topic of the thread. Thanks.

I think I already saw Kontakt being sold for 99 more than once. It's just a matter of waiting and paying attention. And I'm convinced that 99 will not make anyone broke.bigcat1969 wrote: If you or anyone reading this does goes Kontakt, always do it on sale. On a good summer (they don't do it every year), you can get free Drumm'ica and crossgrade up to full Kontakt for I think $125-$140 in that range. The included instruments aren't bad.

Now you got my attention. I hope you can come up with something. BTW - You can get Aria Player for free, and it will play all SFZ instruments:royosho wrote:dude, scoring central is legit... Hey bigcat, getting back to the Kirk Hunter Diamond sale, I already have the strings (got the concert string bundle on sale last year), but don't have any paid brass/ woodwind etc orchestral stuff. In your humble opinion would I be completely nuts not to get the Diamond at this sale price of $74.99? Just a quick gut feeling response will suffice and I wouldn't hold you to it.

Same questions at VI-C and good ones that are hard to answer. I described Diamond as a giant toy box filled with vintage toys, GI Joes and teddy bears, but no Oculus Go. A strained analogy. It all feels old to me, older than the concert strings 3. I guess one question is do you like the strings in CS 1&2? The Brass to me is similar quality to those strings but more limited. The Woodwinds and Percussion feel like an afterthought.
I would say 60% of the value in Diamond is the Strings, 30% the Brass and 10% everything else. By the numbers, 40 gigs are strings, 25 gigs brass, 4 gigs woodwinds, 4 gigs everything else.
Needing the strings I would say its worth it, not needing the strings I'm not sure $75 is worth it for basically the brass.
