I found changing the resolution is better than zooming in. Anyway, I'm using 27" 1080p and for new synths or modules, it is ok. I can see Europa and Grain for example, but Thor is a problem, so sometimes I switch the resolution.

I might start using it or purchase 2nd hand monitor like 21" with such resolution! I doubt there will be a solution soon

All DAW/VST manufacturers need to realise that if people cant see the GUI clearly they are unlikely to buy or use the product; I wonder how many 1000's of people have demoed Reason and just not given it a chance as they cant see it...I had V10 on my DAW for 30 minutes before deleting it as I just count see/read anything and I am not even full 4K (just old eyes!) so new features are meaningless to me until this is fixed. I really don t want to have to be toggling multiple windows in 2018 for basic workflow, even Cubase has a 1 screen display now!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

That doesn't sound right - things should actually be pretty huge at that resolution & screen size. I effectively use 912p (Surface Pro 4 at 200% Windows scaling) on a 12'' screen and even there everything is slightly too big for me. You have 4.5x the screen size!EnGee wrote:I found changing the resolution is better than zooming in. Anyway, I'm using 27" 1080p and for new synths or modules, it is ok. Right! It's such a shame that this happens to one of the most beautiful GUIs amongst DAWs! I mean every time I open it I immediately get inspired by the color palette, the colourful browser, stylishly designed tracks, variety and individual look of devices in the Rack (hope they'll do something for VSTs in that regard), the positively overwhelming SSL-style Mixer. And then I see the huge pixels...SLiC wrote:All DAW/VST manufacturers need to realise that if people cant see the GUI clearly they are unlikely to buy or use the product; I wonder how many 1000's of people have demoed Reason and just not given it a chance as they cant see it...
I know it's not important to a lot (most?) of people, but I really appreciate when my tools - DAW, plugins, etc. - are pleasing to the eye, as it really helps me get inspired, focus and organise. That's why I always had issue with powerful, yet graphically underdeveloped programs like Buzz (years ago) or Usine (more recently).

Pretty huge?! No sir! it is FHD resolution 1920x1080! It is great for Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One etc. from modern hosts, but for Reason the resolution is not good even on 27" (and I'm one metre from the screen!!). It is the same problem with the old Korg synths. I need to be about 50 cm away from the monitor to be able to see it (with the glasses on!).antic604 wrote:That doesn't sound right - things should actually be pretty huge at that resolution & screen size. I had a laptop which had the FHD resolution with 15" and it was impossible to see Reason in that one!
Anyway, as much as I love Reason, but still I consider this the major drawback. So, I start the first hour or so with Reason, but then I really get tired (my eyes), then I just close it and run Cubase instead to feel the luxurious space and font (spoiling myself a little bit
I remember running Reason 4 on my old Sony Trinitron 17" (remember that one?!). It was perfect combination with that 1024x768 resolution (15 years ago though!). But I think it is time for a change Propellerhead!

Ok, so that must indeed be a combination of distance to the screen & your sight. I obviously am much closer but also - fingers crossed - don't need glasses (yet).EnGee wrote:antic604 wrote:Pretty huge?! No sir! it is FHD resolution 1920x1080! Your 4K screen is 43" in size. That's a rather low pixel density and Reason looks ok on low-PPI screens.Psuper wrote:I don't find Reason's graphics capability a hindrance anymore now that we have 4k. However its borderline horrible constantly playing musical chairs with 3 windows <=1080p.
43" 4k at 100%, 10+ sequencer lanes, 10+ mixer channels, 3 side-by-side racks (and I hate Reasons' file browser but its showing as some people use it). Incredibly workable and quite easy on the eyes.
The problem is not in resolution but in pixel density. Reason UI is basically bitmap based and it was designed when 1024x768 was kind of a standard thing. It's looks way too small on high-PPI screens. For me personally it's unusable at the moment - I'm using 27" @ 4K.

At 4k, a 43" screen is an ideal PPI @ 100% -- perfect in fact for desktop computing.tenshin111 wrote:Your 4K screen is 43" in size. Having a 27" 4k on the otherhand is borderline useless for desktop computing -- the pixel density is too close and needs scaled up as everything is way too small. Fine for videos. Gaming is fine too if the GUI is scalable.
The thing that matters absolutely the most is having 4-4-4 chroma so there's no compression.
Have you tried Vital?

Thanks, looks like I''ll be checking out the new Europa real soon.Anosou wrote:Yes, Intro and Lite will also be updated to 10.1, support the new SDK and get the new version of Europa.festeringheap wrote:WillReason 10 Intro/Lite be updated to buy/play the new Players?Anosou wrote:
I'll repeat some of what I said to the friendly visitors at Superbooth: Drum Sequencer will be free for Reason 10 users during the first month or so, just grab it from the shop.
And if so, will they get the sample loading features of Europa?
It'll be interesting to see what you guys and the other devs will bring to the table regarding Players. Personally, I haven't used them much in Lite Reason and the 10 demo. Maybe not my cup of tea, but it looks like others seem to like them. Hopefully they are not too overpriced.

Same here. I think it works really well.Winstontaneous wrote:I can manage Reason on a single monitor with the Mixer/Rack/Sequencer Function keys
You can only look at one thing at a time anyways.
And while I understand some people's frustration with scaling, I have zero problems on 1080 23 and 27" monitors, which I plan to keep for as many years as I can.
The ratio of 1080 to 4K users is probably a zillion to one right now, so catering to those select few right now is resources that could be used elsewhere. I hope they are working on it though, cause Reason can't stay like that forever.

The size of the rack even at 1080P resolutions was one of the main reasons I eventually switched. I held out for version 8 expecting something big in dealing with the gui scale of things relating to the rack and features implemented to deal with it, but it was just completely half baked and hasn't changed in 4 years...
Anyway... here's how bad Reason is from those using it, even at 1080P... and what Woody thinks of it...
