help the op out or dont, the thread isn't about who is mean or who isn't so please stay on topic. If your only input is gonna be shooting the messenger please dont. Anyone who wants to create music and share it better be prepared for a lot more than what little negative criticism has been said here.
The chords are | Em Am | Em Em |
You should be able to figure out the rest yourself.
That answered the question no?

The whole buy a man a fish vs teach a man to fish might also be a great take away from this thread for the op and surely can be seen as helpful. But it getting derailed into who vs who (again) will benefit no one.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

i would argue that my calling a responder mean is just as irrelevant to the op's topic as you calling me out for doing so. i say everyone speaks their mind if they have a mind to as long as it in some way relates to the content of the thread

Perhaps, perhaps not. Is there some rule against talking about things that some members find trivial? If that's where the OPs questions are coming from, and it relates to music theory, then it should be ok for them to continue to ask questions, no?

Of course, like so many newcomers, OP hasn't been back IIRC.

I took his question to be more general, he was looking to make some progress with how to construct electronic dance music and he asked in the place that he thought appropriate, i.e., the music theory forum, which, seems to be a trigger for some members.

The last paragraph - well said. Someone said they won’t extend the kindness to the OP. OP was still new to producing, looking for some help. Sad really, the hyper critical response.

true, so you'll understand the lock ;)

I can see why you would say that. However, consider that Jan is one of the most knowledgeable people on KVR when it comes to music theory.
Who cares, it's a few simple chords, her skill isn't needed, and neither is her vitriol.
When confronted with posts by people who claim to have been making music for over a year but who need help to distinguish between Am and Em, how would you expect her to respond?
I would expect her to not respond if she doesn't have anything helpful to offer.
I mean, really, it is possible to “produce” by drawing random notes on a piano roll until it sounds good, but if one isn’t going to put in the effort to develop their own skills, they shouldn’t feel entitled to the respect of those who have spent decades honing their musical proficiency and knowledge of composition.
Nobody asked for respect, OP asked for help understanding a simple dance track. What's wrong with someone who can't let other people enjoy their pastime the way that they choose? You really have no idea what OP means by "spent a year", nor do you have any idea what his or her background is or how they arrived at where they are. How about if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all?

kamalmanzukie is right, jancivil can't resist saying something mean but she is the first to play the victim when the shoe's on the other foot.
sorry my friend but it appears that your response in this thread was triggered only by some members and you didn't address the original question at all. I am merely trying to stop it before it starts...again. I'm not interested in a chicken or egg thing, I just am getting tired of the mods getting dissed because this type of distraction. No offense but you two bump heads all too often, maybe it would be best if you just put each other on mute or work it out between yourselves. I'm not taking sides, I just dont need to add yet another thread to my close watch list.

but more than one person had such a response.
