I have purchased several computers practically only for the DAW-use, this covers the video-editing, too, beause it includes almost always the audio as well.

Yeah, i call my pc a pc, and my host a host. I never use the term daw.

Logic Pro X ($199)

Kids these days. Logic 5.point.something Silver was double that. And I paid extra for the ES2 expansion. Don't remember if I bought the EXS24 expansion. Space Designer was what? 500 bucks when it came out? A full Logic Platinum would have been 2000 bucks.

So I guess:

Emagic Logic 5: close to 1000
Apple Logic upgrade: 400 or so.
Maybe another paid upgrade before everything became a free upgrade?

In a dim past I used Cubase. Don't ask me what that cost.

And in a very dim past I had something on the Atari1040.

I bought fl studio in 2009 when it was version 9 and now im at 12.5. Because of Free Updates for life IL is doing i spent in those 9 years 0 amount of money

Well in that case i spent over 10 000 eu the least

Fl studio 2.7 in 2000 for around $70-$75, and in 2008 I upgraded to producer edition.
That's it.
Lot's of free DAW's too. Tracktion 1.6, 4, 5, and 6.
Podium free, and I guess you can count some of my magware int my total cost as I attained Podium CM, Samplitude silver and Computer Muzy's from Computer Music mag's back in the day.

Geez, You were born too early! And now that I think about, Logic Pro X was $169 bought with iTunes cards on sale with a 15% discount

A 30-minute commute train ticket per day (~£10)

EUR 0. I got FL Studio given to me for my birthday, and the updates are free. That's over a decade of use, speaking of time periods.

Bit arbitrary though. seeing as those things all cost vastly different amounts based on where you live. A pack of 20 ciggies costs ~4 quid here, and a lot less in Eastern Europe. Public transport (including all trains) costs EUR 1 per day for the entire city if you have a yearly ticket. Within the city borders, it'll cost you just under 2 quid to travel from A to B (any distance), or 4 if you cross the city boundaries.

Public transport in the UK is pretty expensive, and also pretty awful. That's what happens when you privatise services...

For people living in, say, Burundi, I'm sure a DAW is an expensive purchase that costs the same as it does in Europe/US, whereas the purchases listed above will cost a pittance (to those of us in Europe/US).
