Aside from the SDK work and Props Device in the shop, I notice Propellerhead being vocal and fairly transparent about where they're going now as well.
I'm glad you're listening Mattias, and chimed in about on RT -- it makes all the difference to your users and means far more $$$ for Propellerhead. I took it on the chin getting folks to speak up and really pay attention to what is needed, it wasn't easy and I'm sure I ruffled some Prop feathers who didn't want to hear it. However it will work out best for everyone... already has as I'm sure you can tell.

Propellerheads adding more player devices, it's like they are still in this 'rack bubble'... yet still not refining the actual workflow. It's like this bling bling, trying to hide the real issues with this daw.. We have VST instruments... why waste your time adding this, when you could be could be bringing this daw up to professional standards ?

Far from perfect, but 3 points.THE INTRANCER wrote:Propellerheads adding more player devices, it's like they are still in this 'rack bubble'... yet still not refining the actual workflow. 1. Propellerhead improved the SDK so REDevs can create more alternative devices that WE choose.
2. Propellerhead created a device and is putting it in the RE marketplace. Free then paid. Fair.
3. Propellerhead has been far more vocal and interactive in the last week than I've seen in years.
This is the strategy they must employ and are doing so right now. This is good news no matter how you cut it. Long way to go, but damn good news.

1. The RE format is dead, VST implementation..has seen to that... tiny gui's of a propriety format.. isn't those of a right mind would sensibly consider now.
2. Propellerheads put RE's on the market years ago, then put them in Reason as standard. Those Reason users who bought them previously, got / get shafted.
3. Propellerheads are more transparent 'atm' because they know the competition is hotting up with expected release of a competing daw this month. Essentially it's pre-empting users thoughts about jumping ship, projecting promises...which may very well be just hot air...and not any real significance, or only to a tiny minority.

I was about to ask how long are we from "this update is crap and Propellerhead is going down in near future " or "re format is dead" but i guess this already landed here.
Personally I love new update
Just remember - every new update - new PH doomed prophecy

This is why I'm not giving money to Propellerhead anymore. I'll wait. Seems I'll be waiting a very long time, since they've said nothing about this issue.SLiC wrote:Unfortunately until Reason is scalable I'm out as I cant see it on my monitor.

Automatically returning? I'd be happy if the playback just stopped when the playhead reached the End marker.keel wrote:I bet there is still no automatically returning playing cursor.. I don't know how hard it is to do.. Few line of code and it would make so many happy... Or midi chase.. Sigh...

It's definitely a beautiful design, IMO. I hope that they don't ruin it with flat fad BS whenever they finally scale it up. I wasn't keen on the flattening of the sequencer and transport controls, but I'll tolerate that. The rack gear though... no way should that be vandalized by the ugly flat fad. Too many beautiful designs are being ruined for this ugly fad (looking at you, Apple, Line 6, and so many more...).antic604 wrote:Right! It's such a shame that this happens to one of the most beautiful GUIs amongst DAWs! I mean every time I open it I immediately get inspired by the color palette, the colourful browser, stylishly designed tracks, variety and individual look of devices in the Rack (hope they'll do something for VSTs in that regard), the positively overwhelming SSL-style Mixer. And then I see the huge pixels...SLiC wrote:All DAW/VST manufacturers need to realise that if people cant see the GUI clearly they are unlikely to buy or use the product; I wonder how many 1000's of people have demoed Reason and just not given it a chance as they cant see it...
I know it's not important to a lot (most?) of people, but I really appreciate when my tools - DAW, plugins, etc. - are pleasing to the eye, as it really helps me get inspired, focus and organise. That's why I always had issue with powerful, yet graphically underdeveloped programs like Buzz (years ago) or Usine (more recently).

1 Not true, many of us prefer RE over VST due to the inherent advantages, not to mention a desire to support RE devs. However Propellerhead definitely hurt themselves and their RE devs for not capitalizing on it when they should have. I'm not sure it can be reversed, however they'll never know unless they try. The alternative to not trying is far worse.THE INTRANCER wrote:In short..Psuper wrote:Far from perfect, but 3 points.THE INTRANCER wrote:Propellerheads adding more player devices, it's like they are still in this 'rack bubble'... yet still not refining the actual workflow. 2. Somewhat true however Propellerhead hopefully has learned from any mistakes on initial marketing and long term inclusions of said devices. I don't feel shafted that an RE I purchased went free, I feel shafted when I'm force-fed devices as the main course in a purchased upgrade.
3. That plays a part in every developers' mind, and only time will prove if the verbal and transparent approach is long-term or genuine from Propellerhead. Reason is not really an app that you jump ship with though, whatever version you have continues to be valuable in its own way. I'm still not upgrading to 10 as I find nothing valuable in it, however my 9.5 is great for my needs despite the many shortcomings.

I spent 12+ years emailing props, spending hours upon hours creating killer photoshopped gui perfectly workable, all down the drain when props shut down their forum (another bad move, but that's for another day and another dead horse).Jace-BeOS wrote:It's definitely a beautiful design, IMO. If you're serious about Reason, you'll get the 40+" 4k, or 2 monitors. I know its unrealistic for most people to purchase a specific monitor to use an app they love, just depends on how much you truly love that app...

ScottyM, for someone who doesn't use it anymore, you seriously spend a lot of time in Reason threads. Are you sure you aren't missing it?

New Drum Sequencer player is nice, but the "close VST gui with X and it minimize whole reason" -bug is still there.. It has been there since day one when they added VST support. Reported it back then and got email back where they admit it.. But it seems like there is no intrest to fix it tho..
Quite annoying bug actually, happens so often
