I got Bars and Pipes on an Amiga cover disk and used it a little with a midi interface and a TX-81Z. I didn't have a midi keyboard though so I was "playing" it with the computer keyboard. It was all a bit clunky as I really didn't understand how to use that stuff back then. I ended up making most of my music in-the-box with Noisetracker and later Protracker.

I'm reviving this old thread here, as I keep stumbling upon Dr. T's sequencers for Ataris. (in my search for a straight up, solid MIDI Sequencer other than modern software using USB) ≈ good, old fashioned hardwired MIDI Ports.

I have an 1040STe back home in Iceland but I'm wondering if there's a more modern (SSD) way of running some software like this? Would you get hardwired MIDI ports using something like MIDIAddon for that MISTbox?
Is that MISTBox capable of running sequencer software?

KCS runs fine on emulators. Other sequencers like notator used copy protection schemes that relied on port timing quirks that emulaturs can't actually duplicate well.

I found that it runs fine with the STeem emulator.

Gotta love that PVG.

Cool, do you have virtual USB from an emulator or something?
How do you output MIDI from an emulator?

I've used some Atari emulators in the past, mostly I've used Sheepshaver, the PPC emulator (for old 3D programs). There was some hassle getting the datastream out of the emulator IIRC
