FL Studio Slows Down Audio During MIDI Operation

Hi there. Beyond my normal work with modern VSTs and samples and synths, etc. I have a niche interest in making ROMpler MIDI arrangements by hooking up my Roland XV-5050 to FL Studio and trying to arrange tracks purely inside that box. I've never worked in hardware before and I only just have a few items to accomplish this, but with the exception of the topic problem, I've been able to get through.

It's working fairly well with one issue I'm trying to figure out - FL Studio, for some reason, slows down the entire song audio once the MIDI data starts up and I've concluded it has something to do with the MIDI instrument being assigned with FL Studio's MIDI track plugin and automating the LSB and MSB that assign the instrument and MIDI banks. I have to program it in the automation window so it knows what to assign it. The workaround for tracks that don't require instrument changes is just to have the track start on like Bar #8 or something, that works fine, but because the XV-5050 is limited to 64 voice polyphony, I want to be able to change instrument assignments mid-song as I have an SRX-06 (Complete Orchestra) card coming soon. I checked all the stuff I could, it's not really a latency issue (at least in the conventional sense) and none of the settings I messed with related to latency or in ASIO have been able to touch it.

Is there a solution for this? Is this a glitch or something I can fix in a setting somewhere? Or do I need another type of hardware box like a MIDI clock or timing device or something?

Please keep in mind I'm not interested in sweeping solutions that throw the baby out with the bathwater - "get a different DAW", "get a different XV keyboard", "just use Kontakt" or whatever. I tend to get those kinda answers whenever I ask something on a music forum and they don't really tell me if there's a solution or not. It's fine if there is no solution for it, but that's specifically what I'd Like to know.

Thank you!

Is there any way to reset or restart FL's Midi input without restarting FL? (The code for that is probably very complex).

A slow down has happened to me on occasion with Midi input due to a Midi operation, and just clicking a reset button solves it.
