This was absolutely user error, and there are ways I could have mitigated against it. I just didn't calculate for one click of a button to bring about a huge THUMP, with all the most 'dangerous' settings throwing themselves to 100%Lesha wrote:Or use a limiter at the end of your master chain, that is what I always do, especially when there is randomized feedback involved

As others have suggested, we always put a limiter on the master for safety.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Please, for the sake of all of our ears and speakers, could you perhaps set certain parameters to default to 'Random Lock'. I just had a really bad experience playing with the dice![]()
I would suggest locking 'Limiter', 'Preamp', 'Input Volume', 'Output Volume', all 3 of the head's 'Vol' , and 'HQ on', and then let the user decide to remove them if they wish.
Cheers
Anyway, your suggestion is definitely a good idea (and I should have thought about that in the first place!). I've updated the installers with the new preferences for the locks.
If you want, you can re-download it (just make sure to replace Outer Space if you saved a project, as the locks are saved per session/project).

The free VST Ice9 has saved my ears many a time for that sort of thing (basically an sample-level equivalent of a fuse) - Slap it on the end of the master track template and forget about it: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... /2759-Ice9

Also i really dont see any advantage in using 64bit. Less memory. 32bit will exist for atleast 2-3 more years i guess.Halonmusic wrote:Mainly because i use energyXT 3 that only supports 32bit plugins. You can read more about that here. Outer Space v1.2 will be the last version to support 32-bit and older operating systems (unless a major bug comes out of course).
May I ask you guys, why are you still using 32-bit plugins?
The plan is to drop 32-bit for all products by the end of the year.
That said, we still have at least one new release which will have 32-bit support, and probably most of the next updates (for other plugins) will support 32-bit as well.

Thanks for changing it. Which have you set as locked as default?

It's ok, i just tried it. I'd probably have included the limiter, but it;s easy to set just one thing before starting.
Thanks
Thanks

I’m a big fan of Fog Convolver, so apologies for this - how does OuterSpace compare to Surreal Machines Modnetic? Worth having both?

When did you implement the "hit the cabinet" feature?? I love that!! I used to spend time just hitting my spring reverbs and dwelling the complex impulses that transpired. I really like Softube's spring for this feature and the one in Bazille. Thanks for doing that! Nostalgic!

I will just assume you had a brain fart here. The answer is: so you can use modern technology.Aloysius wrote: I have a pretty stable system with hundreds of plug-ins. Never mind the cost but why would I move to 64-bit and subject myself to a ton of punishment?
I've owned many tape echos over the years including the RE's. Outer Space is pretty damn close and and very convincing in a mix.resurrection wrote:So how close is this to the HW? Is there still some room for getting closer, maybe with future updates, or the sound is 'finished'?
If you "just" want a tape delay effect then Modnetic or Outer Space or any of the other tape delays would be a good bet. However they all have a different sound to them so if you want a range of tape delays sounds then both Modnetic and Outer Space would be worth having.perpetual3 wrote:I’m a big fan of Fog Convolver, so apologies for this - how does OuterSpace compare to Surreal Machines Modnetic? Actually the feature has been there since the beginning, I've only added an option to disable it, just in caseplexuss wrote:When did you implement the "hit the cabinet" feature?? I love that!! I wasn't implying that you had to move to 64-bit. I was trying to understand why someone is still using 32-bit. I had several (very long) chats with clients about 32-bit/64-bit after we announced the change last month. We are always open to feedback and suggestions, but nobody really made a valid point for us to reconsider our choices.Aloysius wrote:I have a pretty stable system with hundreds of plug-ins. Of course we are going to lose a few customers, but we will be able to offer better products and updates, as the time spent on debugging old 32-bit systems will be spent on R&D, customer service and more.

Ah. The 2012. That was the only macbook pro from 2008-2016 that didn't have manufacturing defects! I have one as well. My main music system is a 10 year old Mac Pro with a Geekbench 4 almost that of the newer garbage pail mac. I wonder what Aloysius machine is? Maybe an Atati!audiothing wrote:I'm not totally against old systems anyway. Why did the Preset folder move in this release? Was that intentional (didn't notice it in the notes).
I'm on Windows 10 and previously they were in:
C:\Users\[User Name]\Documents\AudioThing\Presets\OuterSpace
Now they're in:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\AudioThing\Presets
I only noticed because my old user presets weren't showing up.
