Yes, this is a problem. Pace's customers are developers, yet with iLok problems, the developer can't do much about it, and Pace's end-user support is very poor. It's one of the reasons I dislike Pace as a company so much...Echoes in the Attic wrote:it’s that when ilok can not help me get their software working, thus actually tell me that also can’t manually make changes to my licenses in my account! And neither can the software vendor of course. Now that is brilliant.

Too late with the warning.. got issues since last night when Windows 10 did one of it's larger updates... not iLok's fault though. They need to come up with a fix fast though!

Well I have just wasted my Saturday due to terrible problems with iLOK today. I tried to register my Lexicon serial on iLOK from the Thomann sale yesterday. All very excited I was, it accepted my serial number & said "working".....& then I waited & waited & waited...... Rebooted everything, went into iLOK License Manager & its just not playing ball. I can see my iLOK 2 activations through iLOK license manager, but every time I go to log-in I get the following message:
"An Error Occured During This Operation.
ServerUnexpectedException: javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Could not open connection"
Seriously? Really?.....just great....I never had any issues with iLOK in the past, but this is just awful.....
I have ordered a new iLOK 3, so desperate I am to sort this (though the blue light is on my iLOK 2) but I think this issue is at their server end & nothing to do with anything (I hope!) that I have done. I do agree with the previous comment.....server status on Pace's website would be useful!

I don't understand something. If there's all these problems with iLok, Pace, or whatever it is and neither the VST vendor, iLok or Pace will help you, why don't you just sue them? I'm dead serious. You bought the software. You have a receipt. They refuse to do anything to allow you to access software that you paid for. Seems to me this is grounds for litigation.
Let me tell you. If this happened to me (you all know what a bastard I can be) I'd be on the phone with a lawyer in 5 minutes if everybody said "Sorry, can't help you. You're out $5,000 in software."
Why are we just taking this? Why don't we go on social media and make a big stink about this? Force changes. When good men do nothing, evil prevails.
Do SOMETHING!

A Class Action Lawsuit might get some attention but you can't get people here to agree on what synth to buy let alone what course of action to take in a case like this.
Pace will blame Microsoft for the Windows Update, Microsoft won't even respond and the developers who use Pace will sit on their thumbs since there is nothing they can do about either one.
As long as we keep buying plugins that require any form of Pace we have no one to blame but ourselves...

It's not like the iLok is not working, so I can easily use the licenses I already have activated. The problem is only with the iLok License Manager, if you want to activate a new license. Also it's most likely an issue caused by the new Windows update, so iLok is most likely not to blame, although that seems to be the first thing people tend to do. I've submitted a support-request, and if everyone else does that, iLok will most likely be all over this issue first thing monday morning.
EDIT: Just heard from a Mac-guy who also has this issue... so it IS an iLok issue after all... Fire!!!!!

So we just throw our hands up in the air and go "Oh well, that's $5,000 of software down the drain?"Teksonik wrote:A Class Action Lawsuit might get some attention but you can't get people here to agree on what synth to buy let alone what course of action to take in a case like this.

Sorry, I can't accept that. There has to be SOME course of action we can take as consumers. The auto industry has lemon laws. Everything else I can think of has some form of protection. This is almost criminal if we just allow this to go on.

If your software stops working for any reason then it's your fault if you can't fix it.twolegstoneworks wrote:The problem is only with the iLok License Manager, if you want to activate a new license. Or you need to place the disclaimer: Warning ! Windows Updates will break our software and we won't be able to fix it.....use our service at your own risk.
For the record the Win 10 1803 update has broken at least some functionality in several pieces of software I use but some developers have issued fixes already. That tells me who I will do business with in the future as this is not likely the last Windows "Feature" Update to drop.

Like I said there is something you can do....start a Class Action Lawsuit. Whether you have any chance of winning or not is another thing. I'll sign up. That makes two of us against the world.wagtunes wrote:So we just throw our hands up in the air and go "Oh well, that's $5,000 of software down the drain?"Teksonik wrote:A Class Action Lawsuit might get some attention but you can't get people here to agree on what synth to buy let alone what course of action to take in a case like this.

Of course it's wrong but who do you sue ? The developer ? He'll just say it's Pace at fault. Sue Pace ? They'll just blame the Window's Update. Sue Microsoft ? They'll just ask have you met our team of a thousand top tier Lawyers ?
The only thing we can do that will make a difference is stop giving money to developers who use Pace in any form. It may not convince developers to drop Pace but at least when the Pace Virus acts up like it is now we won't be affected.

People saying that it's not Paces fault are just flat out wrong. Even though Windows 10 update procedure has been a total sh1tshow, it is Pace's job to keep their crappy protection program working. They have a exactly one job and they have been failing at it like for ever. It's not like they have not had plenty of opportunities in advance to make sure that their software is compatible with Windows 10. Windows 10 has been around already for how long? They're just lazy f%&ks and probably don't care.

I do not routinely have my DAW PC's online. Only for occasional plug in updates/installs etc. I turn windows updates off. Music production remains a specialist use for a PC computer so I wonder why people allow these updates to happen and why you have the machine online so frequently?
I do appreciate you can get caught out as at times it seems impossible to stop them. There are ways to stop Windows 10 updates even on the standard W10 (not something I recommend and I do so at my own risk.) As the machines are working to my satisfaction I leave them offline as much as is possible and only visit directly to known websites when absolutely necessary or do an offline update.
Putting a music PC online regularly is playing with fire. I thought this was standard knowledge amongst DAW/music PC enthusiasts.
