I've just got Sony Vegas Video which is super bad! But I want to sync it with Sonar 3/4 and/or Ableton Live 4. I've installed the Sonic Foundry Virtual Midi Router. But every time I try to use one of the virtual midi channels to link Sonar/Live to Vegas nothing happens. Does anyone at KVR have any experience of Syncing Vegas to any other host?

My aim is to play midi and softsynths in sync with Vegas. I tried using energyXT in Vegas. But I couldn't get the sequencer in eXT to work. It wouldn't start. Perhaps it's not possible to use eXT in Vegas. :?

Anyone? :?

sorry munchkin, I have all three, but I do video in vegas and all my 'music' inside sonar, exported to a stereo audio file, and add any fx or spoken tracks inside vegas :/

If it sounds good it is good.

Hmmm...how do you plan the music to fit the film? Do you make a mix of the film, load it into Sonar and then score the music in Sonar? And then mix the music to a stereo file and load it back into the Vegas film project?

Perhaps I should follow your example, Eric, and forget about syncing. No doubt my computer will probably explode with both of them running at the same time. I just wondered how it could be done. All the syncing capabilities seem to be there in each host but for some reason I can't get them to work. :( :?

munchkin, yes. With Vegas I just render the film to a format sonar can understand (should be much better now with sonar4!!!) and write the music against that, then render back out..

Maybe once I get more comfortable I'll try syncing up, even though the workflow isn't exactly the quickest, I know its solid. The reason I don't sync is because i'm worried that something will break, and either sonar or vegas didn't save, and I'd end up losing work or something.

If you figure out a solid way to do it, let me know :)
