Big Kick...What's The Big Deal?

Okay, I honestly don't get it. Big Kick by Plugin Boutique is currently on sale for $30.
But why would anybody need it with all the drum samples and drum machines that we have today? I mean it's just a kick.
What am I missing? Is this thing REALLY that amazing?
And yes, I did listen to the demo track. It sounds like a kick.
So?

Isn't one obvious reason that a kickdrum synth enables you to finetune the sound with parameters, much more than you can alter a sample in a sample player? It can save you time finding the right kickdrum sound.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Tuning the kick to the rest of the composition helps with the overall feel, especially the fundamentals.
Shaping the kick at sample level and shaping the kick at synthesis level sounds different.

Okay, then you tell me what it is that this thing gives me that I can't find in...Gamma-UT wrote:I see we have a winner in today's "Obvious troll is obvious" contest.wagtunes wrote:What am I missing? Is this thing REALLY that amazing?

So?
Battery 4
XILS Stix
NI Komplete Ultimate
or any of the other dozens of drum products that are available?
And of course everybody here getting on my case has Big Kick and is speaking from experience because it's so wonderful.
And as to the dance floor comment, I'm sure there are plenty of great dance tracks out there that were made without the use of Big Kick.

I have been looking at the Big Kick deal for a while and was really tempted, after some serious soulsearching i went for D16 Punchbox, i got it from Plugin Discount, a deal at £58 https://plugindiscounts.com/product/d16-punchbox/ i have spent a couple of hours on it and yes! it's money well spent, as you are a sounds expert i would be interested to hear your views on Big Kick vs Punchbox

But then can't you create a kick with just about any synth without the need for spending an additional $65 for something that just does ONE thing?Bathrobe wrote:Tuning the kick to the rest of the composition helps with the overall feel, especially the fundamentals.

I'm sorry but I'm not seeing it. Not when there are so many ways to make drum sounds these days.

ok, comparing b4 which is using samples with stix which is synthesizing clearly shows that you must be trolling.wagtunes wrote:Okay, then you tell me what it is that this thing gives me that I can't find in...Gamma-UT wrote:I see we have a winner in today's "Obvious troll is obvious" contest.wagtunes wrote:What am I missing? No I'm not. I'm clearly pointing out that there are tons of ways of getting drum sounds available without the need to resort to a product that does ONE thing, make a kick.Bathrobe wrote:ok, comparing b4 which is using samples with stix which is synthesizing clearly shows that you must be trolling.wagtunes wrote:Okay, then you tell me what it is that this thing gives me that I can't find in...Gamma-UT wrote:I see we have a winner in today's "Obvious troll is obvious" contest.wagtunes wrote:What am I missing? To me, with all that's available, it's money wasted.

Why? You claim to be a sound designer but apparently can't work out the different between the functions in Battery and something like Big Kick?wagtunes wrote:Okay, then you tell me what it is that this thing gives me that I can't find in...
For the record, I own neither Big Kick nor the Sonic Academy one. But I am able to work out what it does. Not forgetting that online search is also a useful tool.

Stop being a douche. I know what it does. I just don't see the need for spending $65 on something that does ONE thing when I can get Synthmaster (which I own) for less money that gives me more than enough kicks for my tracks.Gamma-UT wrote:Why? To me, spending money on something that is so specialized, where I can get products that do much more for not a lot more money is pointless.
